Wytang when my 2 pitts where pups..I took them out every hour...I would say ..go Pee and they would go to the door...I would walk them and when 1 did Pee i would say good boy you go Pee ..pet him and give a treat...same with going poop...now they are 2 years old and when I take them out and say poop..they squat and poop...or Pee...they are very smart dogs..do not under estimate them...also play with thier feet alot so you can cut thier nails...

As they get older they will try to control you..thats why they are called bully dogs....show her you are the pack leader....I would pin my dogs till they would submit..now we have a understanding who is boss....

They are not your average dog...they have strong instincts..most Intelligent dogs I ever owned...and most agile..my dogs can run and jump over the bed of my truck like it was nothing..

they can be chewers also...I do not give my dogs rawhide or any of the green dental chews..it can choke them..I give them plain Marrow bones from the market...and a Nylabone...

Your pup is very good looking....has great face features...and colors...mine is a blue nose and one is a red nose...both are over 75 pounds now..and eat like a horse..

have fun with your new kid and enjoy and love it ...

We take her out just about every hour and she still finds time to drop loads or let the river flow. I pin her on her back with my strong hand holding her firmly and gently as not to hurt her or make her feel she is in trouble. She submits on her back fairly easily. She has Nylabones but still prefers shoes and boots, she was chewing on my dresser but some Apple Bitter stoped that (doesn't work on shoes though). I've been spending a lot of time on pitbullforum 'dot' com and read read read they have some very good info on food, training, and do's and don'ts. Surfer check out collarmania.com they have some awesome collars both leather and nylon.

When her neck is big enough I'm getting her this one

I watched Mythbusters last week about how to get by a guard dog so your #16 still isn't safe. lol Nice looking pup! I am really wanting a choc. or yellow lab.

Pitbulls by nature are poor gaurd dogs as they are too friendly and shouldn't be used as such. They are too strong and you really don't want a dog that powerful to be human agressive. Russecu I had a black lab growing up and man was that dog loyal and watched over us. If labs and German Shepards didn't shed so much they would have been in the running for what dog to get. So we looked at short haired dogs and the pitbull fit our life styles and I've always wanted. I just made sure we would match and I could give them what they needed to function properly.

Best thread ever! I love all the doggie pix!! :D

My $0.02: crate training really helps most dogs get control of their bladder. They don't like to go where they have to lay so they hold it much longer. Of course don't put them in the crate when you're home, and when they're really young the crate time without a chance to relieve themselves should be limited to a couple of hours...but at night and when you're not home it's an excellent training aid. Just make sure it's big enough for them to move around some (turn around) and for them to grow some. After a year you won't need it because there will be no more accidents. It really worked well for me.

She's some what crate trained lol she stayes in there and holds it until she's let out. When we are in the room and we say home she goes inside and we give her a treat. We try and remeber to take her out at least once an hour but we forget sometimes. But she really doesn't give any warning unless we see her smelling around. I have a magazine that did a front to back acticles on bully training, I'm going to give it another read and see what tips the give.

Wow great dog. Thanks for sharing. Was thinking about a bluetick coonhound.

She is now micro chipped and check up is complete, funny she went from weighing 15.2 lbs and a week later she weighed in at 16.4lbs :o. Also I am very happy to report she is holding back on her "accident" in house and now doing more outside. 1 full week of poop free house hold, the treats seem to be doing the trick.

Great to hear she is doing well...she is young and will learn to poop out side more and more..she is on a good start now..it gets better...now soon the big chew period comes as she looses and cuts new teeth...I lost a few pairs of shoes during this period...lol...now all is good..they just shred MF towels now even at 2 they get into mischief...

Start? she hasn't stoped lol from my bed post, dresser, shoes, socks, mail, and I gave her 1 mf towel. The Bitter Apple has stoped her on the dresser and bed post but doesn't seem to stop her on my smelling work socks/shoes. She likes the smell of dead :D

Bitter apple does not work for shoes and socks and insoles...lol....do not know why...but I did put some hot sauce on my shoes once....and that ended that...no more shoe chewing...the vet said they will be ok with that no harm done...just a dab here and there is fine...I did not use tabasco...to hot I think..I used Franks I believe...worked..

Also try a small Marrow bone..the taste may take her mind off other things...or a Kong toy stuffed with some treats..she will have to work to get them and maybe she will keep occupied working on that instead of other things...

AL

We have the Kong and it takes her all of 2 minutes to remove treats and peanut butter she's good.

Tobasco? Our min pin might just still chew it.
SHE EATS JALEPENOS!!!!!

I think its a Min Pin thing, damn things want food all the time lol. She likes spicey food if I give her some of what I'm eating lol. My Min Pin will chow anything except for cucumbers and asparagus, she'll spit that stuff out lol. She ate my lovely saturday morning breakfast last week, made a great omlette etc. Had to grab something from my room, came back and she got in my chair and was facefirst in my food.
