Anyone else cringe at the sight of a freshly paved road? I'm talking fresh....with those little asphalt rocks that didn't make it and are scattered everywhere. UGH!

Try fresh oil and chips.. Here in Pittsburgh they lay down tar and spread rock chips on top to treat slick surfaces... It sucks

I moved to the Northern VA area two years ago and I learned very quickly that they do NOT play when it comes to repaving asphalt. They will pave a whole stretch of highway overnight. In some places you wouldn't even have known that there would be a road project going on until the next day and you see the road is paved and the rocks are hitting your car. Yeah...that happened to me on the way in...I still want to cry.

If you have some decent protection on the paint removing these bits and pieces of tar and the like isn't all that bad... Line paint however is absolutely the worst stuff to remove!!

Consider what the road paint must endure for years on end it's no wonder we have such a tough time removing it.....

I hear you on the freshly paved roads! Luckily here in MA they don't really fix roads. lol. I rarely run into construction where I have to drive over fresh pavement. Instead it's just pot holes which are great for your wheels, tires, suspension, etc!

Where does all that (unusually high) MA tax money go? I when up there for a few days last fall, and didn't remember any road work...

anyhow, I think the really tore up roads are just as bad as the freshly paved ones. Just my two cents.

I should have put another layer of Swissvax on. Ever used that stuff before?

To be honest, they don't really repair the roads here so I don't see a lot of construction zones but if I ever see them and I can avoid them, I will at all cost.

If not, I will slow down (even on the highway) to the slowest (safe) speed. You may have all the wax in the world on your car, those fu***** rocks can hurt your car really bad...

I will have a "family reunion" soon and I must go on a dirt road to get to my destination, I will not enjoy this part... My beautiful new car...:awman::cry:

No I haven't but I hear you guys talking about it all the time. It is on the pricey side but I may have to bit the bullet and order some.

Sealants and waxes act as a sacrificial barrier repelling contaminates that come on contact with it. While no protective coating is bullet proof it does minimize the amount of adhesion that takes place...thus making it easier to remove.

NY and MA have some of the worst roads ever!!!!!!!!! i hate it!! Stupid Plowers! its not their fault that the city and town workers cant do their job when they kill the streets, but still, these guys make craters in the streets. then they go to the bar or sleep in the truck when there is still more plowing to do!! then the city comes and takes 3 day to patch 1 hole! Now i have to put the stock suspension back on my car because the streets are so bad. no more drop, car looks like a damn monster truck. i cant even enjoy my ride! /Rant

Yeah, Alko, I know what you mean. What's just about as bad is a dump truck speeding ahead of you in the left lane with little rocks bouncing off the back of the truck toward you. You slow down so he can get like 5 miles up the road, hoping that you can somehow avoid having one or more of those bouncing rocks put a crack in your windshield.

RIGHT! I hate the fact that alot of dump trucks don't have the correct mud flaps on. I never stay behind dump trucks anymore.

I got put on to the detailers world, as well as Swissvax, from watching Paul Dalton's youtube video's. If you haven't heard of this dude...I suggest doing a youtube search on him. All I can do is shake my head when I watch his video's. My fiance got me some Swissvax for my birthday (I've mentioned this before and yes I can't stop talking about it). That stuff is amazing. I was shocked that she got me that. I thought she was going to get their cheapest tube which is $99 bucks.
