My girlfriend has had our oldest dog on cosequin. They had their annual checkup and vaccination yesterday. Buster is showing some early signs of arthritis in his rear left knee, so I'm going to put him on some supplements. Otherwise they're both good.

And google pics brought up this shot from 7 years ago today. About a week after this was taken the cushion they're lying on got shredded. I came home from work to find little bits of foam everywhere.

Give him a big cuddle for me!Rocky had a visit to the Vet today, the infection he had in his nose last year came back. I was at the Vet last week picking up some Epitalis Forte for Buster, and I asked if I could get a repeat prescription for the medication Rocky had last year, no, you have to bring him in let us run some tests to confirm what it is, even though the symptoms are identical to last year. Ok, I understand, due diligence and all, and we have to pay for all these tests of course. Luckily we got the same Vet, he looked at him, looked at the notes from last year, and said, "this is exactly the same as what he had last year, do you want a prescription for the same stuff, ok here you go". I'm not sure who's happier, me, as it only cost us $160 for the visit rather than $700, or Rocky, as nothing got shaved and nothing got inserted into places he doesn't like.
This is his happy place at the Vet, sitting on the scales.

How are the dogs at the vet? We've been thinking Gus is part cattle dog based on his behavior (we're waiting on his DNA results). Penny, our other dog, is required to be drugged prior to our visits.Rocky had a visit to the Vet today, the infection he had in his nose last year came back. They both love going to the vet, they love meeting new people and the nurses fuss over them, cattle dogs are supposed to be wary of strangers but I guess the border collie takes over in this regard. Ziva doesn't like getting the vaccinations, she turns and gives them a dirty look, but doesn't try to bite them, Buster doesn't even react to getting needles. My last dog had to be muzzled or she would start snapping her jaws at them as they tried to give her a needle. How are the dogs at the vet? Gus's DNA is extracted so we should hopefully have the results soon. I got her the DNA kit for her birthday last year and she finally used it. If we have the results before her birthday later this month and the results aren't too off the wall, I'll get her another kit for Penny. My guess on her is there has to be some English Shepherd. They both love going to the vet, they love meeting new people and the nurses fuss over them, cattle dogs are supposed to be wary of strangers but I guess the border collie takes over in this regard. Penny must get pretty stressed by vet visits, and it's probably just the scent of the place that triggers the stress reaction. I've seen people who can't get their dogs out of the car at the vet, they just won't budge.
I sometimes try to figure out which behaviour comes from which of their breeds, the rowdiness is definitely cattle dog, the friendliness must come from the border collie, but the herding could come from either. Ziva likes to stalk birds like a cat, which is something her mum used to do, but Buster will just charge at them and chase them away.
I can definitely see that. I had to look them up, I hadn't heard of that breed before. They look like a larger Border Collie. Something I don't understand though, both the English Shepherd and the Australian Shepherd are American breeds, but there is no American Shepherd, there is however a Miniature American Shepherd, which is basically a miniature Australian Shepherd.Penny
