The weekend before last was a rare weekend off for me. Well it was supposed to be anyway

A mate asked if he could pop around on Saturday morning as he had removed a bird dropping from the bonnet of his Sprint Blue Audi S3, and in the process has left some pretty nasty scratches in the paint, around the size of a saucer.

The bonnet was washed with ONR and clayed using Autoglym Fine Grade Clay and Carways Mist and Wipe. I then performed some test spots and got to work with a 4" LC Orange pad and Menzerna FG400. The rest of the bonnet was then polished using Menzerna PF2500 to remove the swirls and ensure the whole area looked the same. It was sealed using Menzerna Powerlock and sent on its way.

Then Mitch arrived. He had a little oopsie with a pole in a parking lot somewhere and had a rather sad looking rear bumper and small section on the rear fender. With the Breakfast Run the next day, he needed it fixed. After a quick ONR wash I clayed off the paint transfer and prepped the area for polishing. The light scratches were polished out using a 4" LC White CCS Pad and Menzerna PF2500. I then touched up the deeper scratches and he too was sent on his way.

Saturday afternoon was then spent washing and decontaminating the Kia Rio. This car is only around 6 months old but had some nasty scratches on the A-pillar and all the dealer applied 'protection package' crud has washed off, revealing some light swirling and marring. I also had time to wash my own car in preparation for the Breakfast Run on Sunday :hurray:

After the breakfast run on Sunday I continued with the car and then finished it off by spending a couple of hours on it each night after work, finishing off on Thursday night.

Enough rambling....

I agree! You "rubied" that red! Looks great! I really like those wheels too!

Excellent job, that red is poppin :props:

Nice works as always, is it just me but did one of those before pics look a little dull?
I ask this being the car is really new.

The after pics popped , a lot of gloss and swirls gone.

Keep up the great work:dblthumb2:

Thanks - yes the true richness of the red color really came out once it had been polished.

Like always, awesome work:)
Thanks Kyle

Thanks - the owner was amazed at the change in color and was very happy when he fetched it.

Lovely finish now... excellent work :)
Thank you

Thank you. Yes the paint was quite dull before. There was so much fine marring (the paint is actually quite soft) that must have been contributing to the dull appearance

Beautiful work Lawrence!

Can't wait to see the black STI done.
Thanks Mike. Yeah man that Subaru gave me a serious work out. Definitely my toughest detail to date. The paint was properly hacked up by the previous 'detailer' and needed a lot of work to get it right again. It was a battle against the sticky paint though.

I hope to get the write up done before the weekend.

That red does look amazing. Good job!

I really like how some manufactures are starting to put metal/pearl flake in their "normal" reds. It really adds a different dimension to the color.

I agree, and love polishing metallic paint and then having a good look at the various colors of the flakes. The kids are usually roped in to come and see how many different colored flakes they can spot:D

Really like that shade of red and you did great making it pop!

Now let's see that Subaru! :)

Great job on the Kia, that color is stunning and those are very underated looking cars as well!
