New car was collected last Friday :)

Hats off to Skoda dealer (Station Garage, Horsham) as they have been great...

Pics of it at Prism's HQ in Cambs:

So bit of an update on the car....

Few days ago, I had some spare time, looking at the car under the street lights I was not happy. Being OCD I was seeing oxidisation, buffer trails from potentially the dealer I had to do a temporary fix to not make me freak out soo much when looking at the car. So as a quick solution I opted for a single stage using Meguiars Microfibre system via DA.

I also got some help from the girlfriend :)

End results, no protection:

TBC.....

So the next day I really wasn't happy with the finish from a single stage. I was hoping it would have eased the pain of the paintwork until the weekend when I wanted to work on it more. But today there was some sunshine :) So I decided first thing to start to the car.

This time I opted for a 3 stage correction. First stage with a Lake Country wool pad and Scholls Concepts S3 Gold on the Festool, followed by Meguiars microfiber cutting compound via microfiber cutting pad on the Buff Daddy DA, then Rupes Keramic Gloss on a polishing pad via the Rupes Bigfoot. I achieved the results I was looking for with the paintwork:

Then I wanted to try new Fusso Coat 12 as I had applied it to my Passat and really liked the finish and protection on it:

I was really happy with the wet finish the Fusso Coat 12 gave and was going to leave it at that.....

TBC...

Continuing.....

So as the day went on, at time the cloud cover created some flat light which allowed me to notice ghosting within the paint from the wax. The more I looked the more I noticed, really could accept this so I decided to go over with Dodo Juice Red mist (to remove the ghosting) then layer with Dodo Juice Orange Crush, this is my original glass jar from a long time ago, and using it again reminded me why I loved Dodo Juice as a brand from my beginnings into serious detailing.

The now FINAL END RESULTS:

The alloys were protected with Angelwax Bilberry Wheel wax:

The Engine bay was detailed and dressed with Chemical Guys Silkshine Dressing:

At the very end snowfoamed the car with Autofinesse Avalanche with some surprising results....beading of the snowfoam!!!!!

And a fantastic beading shot when rinsing:

Thanks for viewing my updates and hopefully I can get onto the interior soon ;)

Beautiful car and great job bringing the paint back to perfection. The Russo looks great. Love the red, really deep and wet looking.

Great work. Soft99 has some great products but I really like Fusso Coat and Authentic. Fusso Coat is amazing with how it can fill and hide defects in addition to looking great.

The red paint looks amazing :xyxthumbs:

So how many different products did you use again? ;)

I used 3 compounds and 2 waxes and Red mist, Probably needs further refined to be where I would like it, but for now that will do :)

I see a lot of red in your pictures, it shows you really love your beautiful girlfriend. Car looks too nice even if compared to new red Ferrari.

So a little update...

Today I decided to work a little more on the vRS, something that was bugging me a little was the exhaust as I didn't have time to do it when I had done the paint correction. I used some Swissvax Metal polish with 00 grade metal wool then protected it with Britemax Final Shine.

So before:

After:

Then there was the exterior glass as I wanted to seal it. I have used many different glass sealants in the past, but for sheer easy I opted for Gtechniq G4 to clean and G5 to protect:

Then the interior...it wasn't too bad and no stains on the seats etc.... so only opted for a hoover instead of a shampoo hoover, then protected the fabric with Gtechniq I1 (inc the alcantara on the seats), then cleaned the leather with Dodo Juice Supernatural Leather Cleaner and protected with Dodo Juice Supernatural Leather Sealant. The interior trim was treated with Dodo Juice Fantastic Plastic:

Few shots after:

That's all for now....Thanks for viewing my progress

Rob :)

Thanks :)

Don't think its a car that's available in the US, so maybe a little bit different for everyone.

So another update, but not the best update......

Someone scuffed my car :(

Removed the initial dirt and paint transfer with IPA, then again corrected with a wool pad and Scholls Concepts S3 Gold followed by Meguiars MF Cutting compound via a MF pad via DA followed by Rupes Bigfoot with Keramic Gloss compound and Yellow polishing pad. The waxes with Soft99 Fusso Coat 12. After reading a few threads this time left on for longer as that's meant to make the streaking/staining/ghosting go away......the RESULTS:

Its not perfect, but its dulled it down a lot, really will need a respray but that will have to wait as I'm not willing to claim my insurance yet. Also will touch up the areas that the paint has been removed once I get some touch up paint.

Very nice! :dblthumb2:

I think I've seen this thread somewhere else... ;)

The only let-down: the use of metal wool. I know a lot of people swear by it but I just can't justify it.

The bumper looks a little better from 2 feet away

@RMM metal wool can really make a huge different and make life a lot easier

A little bit of an update on my car. Really not done too much to in in a while. The rear spoiler kept oxidising so decided to trizact it then polish it...

once refinished and back to the original colour :)

on a positive note the fusso is holding up well:

Really been impressed with the car soo far, its pretty quick and really economical averaging 42mpg and on longer trips getting upto 56mpg.

Unfortunately couple of things needing addressed with the car, aircon is needing a new compressor which is being fixed tomorrow. Engine management light came on, so plugged in vagcom and came up with this:

So this is also being fixed tomorrow.

The car also is affected by the emissions scandal from VAG (as skoda is owned by VAG, the Octavia is essentially a mk5 golf, the vRS TDI has the same engine at the Golf GTD), so waiting to see the outcome of this but thinking as out of warranty might no get the software update. As for emissions testing in the UK its not as strict as say...California where the scandal is highlighted.
