I'm ready to purchase a PC kit and not sure which way to go. I spoke with a tech at AG and can't believe I shredded all of the info by accident. I'm just detailing my own cars. Please help me choose a kit or maybe I should go alacart. I'm looking to spend around $350

I'm looking for just products for exterior. I already have clay, waterless wash and detail spray. I have a pile of microfiber towels, but they are just bulk from big box club.

The cars are three daily drivers and one garage queen. I typically wash the daily drivers once a week in the drive way. The garage queen is black and has only been polished & waxed with Meq synthetic products.

Lastly, I would like to detail the engine bay on the garage queen, but do not want a greasy look. Would prefer to not see any sheen if possible.

What do you recommend?

For the engine bay I recommend aerospace 303, not a shiny look, a very back to brand spanking new look, plus 303 can be used on a looooot of other stuff.

Start with some quality microfiber towel like the Arctic Whites. Using a big box towel can scratch your finish ruining your work.

This is good for the engine bay:
Meguiars Plastic & Vinyl Coating, exterior trim coating, trim dressing, vinyl protectant

This is a great kit and excellent products, well within your budget.

Wolfgang Porter Cable 7424xp Ultimate Polishing Kit

I looked at this one. I wondered if the Uber was to aggressive for my needs. I also looked at the detailer choice that cam with their swirl remover. I'm new to this and was curious about pads for the PC. I thought the CCS pads might be a good fit for me. The AG tech and I talked for a while and I probably got things mixed up, but I think he mentioned going with the show car kit and add a sealant. Thought the carnauba would be great for the garage queen and the sealant for the daily drivers. I've read too much, lol.

I'd recommend Optimum Opti-bond tire gel for under the hood. Although the description says high gloss, it's more of a matte, satin finish. Get the gallon if you decide to go with this product. The cost is better than going smaller.

Would have never thought about using a product with tire gel in the name. Thanks for the tip!

I should add that the garage queen has only been polished/waxed by hand. I can see swirls and fine scratches that will need some help.

For under the hood, Sonus Trim and Motor Kote is top notch!

Griots Garage 6 Inch Random Orbital Polisher

lake country 5 inch backing plate, 5 inch backin plate, 5 inch hook and loop backing plate

Then chose some 5.5" foam or microfiber pads and a compund/polishing duo - Carpro is my favorite, but many, many, many more exist (Wolfgang, Optimum, Meguiars, Mothers, 3M, etc, etc, etc, ad infinitum) and will produce results.

Here's a budget friendly one that will help:

Meguiars Ultimate Compound & Polish Combo

It contains consumer versions of the popular M105/205 combo, and in a small size (you won't use much per car) so that if you find that Meg's is not for you, you're not stuck with a lot of it.

Look to Duragloss products - huge bang for not a lot of buck - for all the other areas of car care as that you are looking for..

I made a registry for you on the site but have no clue how to find it but through my account lol I named it ford fest idk if that will help. But basically it had:
GG 6 inch
5" backing plate
6 LC flat pads 3 black 3 orange
Meg's 105 and 205
Carpro eraser
IronX
BF AFPP
6 gold plush jr's
1 supreme guzzler
Opti bond tire gel
WG Trim Sealant

Ended up being a little bit over and obviously you would still have the need for a couple of things like apc (probably would go Meg's or Optimum), wheel cleaner (ironX could be used or I have had great luck with sonax FE), and wheel brushes.

Thanks for the advice! I have the majority of those exact products today, except I apply by hand. I need to use A machine instead. I've read some on the GG polisher. Did you get the smaller version as well?

Thank you to all of you!

I have the smaller one.

It works for areas that would be difficult to reach or areas that would be difficult to control with a small pad/backing plate on the 6" polisher.

Otherwise I just use the small backing plate and pads on the full size polisher.

Good to know, thx
