Heard back on the somewhat odd journey:That is a strange history. This is for a new car, right? I assume so with the mileage. You made a good choice in walking away. Since they don't have a sunroof, it almost sounds like it got soaked due to the windows being down in a really bad storm. Or a critter got in the car and tore things up. No wonder they wanted it gone.
Honestly I think you would be very happy with a Limited like mine. I don't know if you'd really notice a significant difference from the suspension since I believe it's only the front shocks that are updated in the Ts and the springs stay the same on all four corners as do the sway bars. For street usage, the standard stock brakes are more than adequate and do just fine.
I wanted to address the CarFax reporting. This vehicle hasn't actually been on our lot long at all. It was specially built for the Cleveland Autoshow and spent most of it's time with Subaru. It was not a demo vehicle, however Subaru offers to replace any imperfections we see on the vehicles free of charge after the show. We always replace the carpets, floor mats, or any upholstery where someone might have sat!
Explains it I guess…but not enough to rekindle my interest in this particular car.
One of the things I liked about BRZ was comfort of seats; would be far more comfortable on longer road trips than our current ‘road car’, the ‘19 Corvette.
Wish Subie did what Toyota does with GR86; make the Brembos a stand alone option on any trim. Do I need them…of course not but they look cool, especially the red calipers Toyota does.
Off to local Porsche dealer to see what they’d buy Cayman outright for. Have one offer of $47.5k but that’s up in Cleveland. Could probably sell privately around $50k but the hassle just ain’t worth my time these days.
The journey is likely to end in BRZ, just might take a bit to find the right one!
Thanks again for all of your input/thoughts…very helpful!
