Some DIY bodywork/ paintwork with the help of a friend...

Buffing done (I hope), tape off, grills on. Now for hours and hours of cleaning compound out of crevices. Then wash, inspect, and plan next move. I still have like 4 weeks before I can seal the fresh paintwork and I plan to re buff the whole car then and finish with PO85RD so I just have to figure out what to do to seal the rest of the car. I am thinking pinnacle souveran spray wax for now. If I re apply that each wash it should get me by.

Going to keep arrowheads off for the time being hoping that a sponsor comes out with some billet ones (hint mavericman hint)

GREAT JOB!!! Thanks for sharing! I'm an ex-sprayer myself and what you pulled off in your garage is amazing. Can we get some details on that goat?

Washed the car. Then cleaned off all rubber trim and the random compound everywhere. Then conditioned rubber trim. Then washed again and quick detailed with pinnacle crystal mist. IDK what the next move is. Re install weatherstripping on the plastic trunk piece I guess. Maybe GTO side emblems.

Thank you guys for reading it.

It is a 2004 GTO 6 speed with red interior. I bought it new off the showroom in october 2004. It currently has about 56000 miles and has never been drove in snow. Up until this last year it was a garage queen through the winters.

I take a lot of pride in doing everything I can myself. This car has spent a lot of time on jackstands in my garage. I attempted to make it a racecar in 2010. That failed LOL. I am on my second motor, second transmission, like 6th rear end. Second driveshaft. Second set of halfshafts. 4ish axle stubs.

The brakes have been upgraded, nearly every bushing in the car has been replaced. The suspension upgraded. VX tail lights, window tint, autox grills, black side marker lights, shaved spoiler and washer nozzles in hood.

The motor is forged, the tranny is build. 229/234 .600/.612 111+4 custom ground cam. Stock 243 heads w/ springs. UDP. Kooks 1 3/4" catless longtubes. Fast 92/92 combo. Svede OTRCAI.

Here is what the underhood looks like when it is cleaned up.

The STB is now painted to match the underside of the hood.

The car used to have nitrous and 3.91 gears. I did have a slicks and skinnies setup for it.

In it's current form the last time at the track on street tires I ran a 12.7 @ 118. It pulls hard when I get traction in third gear.

I have HP Tuners and do my own tuning also.

Some slight holograming in direct sunlight. Considering I never used a buffer before I am very pleased. I still have a blue pad and PO85RD to go but at this point I am not going to do anything else to the car until I can seal it in a few more weeks. IDK if the blue pad and PO85RD would get rid of the holograms or not but I know a few minutes with the PC will. At this point I have to put the 4 badges back on the car and the trunk weatherstripping and then I am done. I still think I will wetsand the plastic trunk plate a bit with it off the car.

Made this cool light that gets hot enough to melt metal. This thing is crazy. It will be like the super swirl finder.

Wow, what a truly amazing job!! :props:

For me autobody work seems so long ago but the memories are alive and well. I would love to shoot an entire car or even a panel....I really enjoyed automotive painting...

Keep up the great work and thanks for posting your progress, I've enjoyed every step!! :props:
