Some initial thoughts on the Rupes 21

Yeah, well after really thinking long and hard about it, I decided I might as well spend the extra money on the 21 and 5" BP just so I have the option to use 6.5" pads in the future. I'm planning on this being the last polisher I buy for a very very long time, so its better if I don't limit myself to the smaller pads I suppose.

I explained it in my other thread.

The yellow and white rupes pads are really good. Instead of the blue and green, I'm using either optimum or megs mf pads. I like the face of the optimum mf pads better, but i like the added quarter inch on the megs mf pads. It just feels safer having a little extra pad space when working near curved body panels.

Did you use the yellow and white rupes pads with rupes polishes or other polishes?

I think that's a big jump in aggressiveness between the yellow and MF pads. The green bridges the gap. If I need anything more aggressiveness than green, then I'll use MF pads.

Sonax perfect finish. Finally got to use it this weekend. It's really nice. My paint is somewhat soft so on hard paint it might need a pad with more cut.

I hope you like it. As far as the mf pad thing, I don't need it for my car. It's to have for working on other people's cars. So you think I should get another set of intermediate polishing pads (rupes green or some other foam pad) to bridge mf to the rupes yellow? All I need for my car are yellow and white rupes pads and spf.

Yes, if you're working on other cars, even if it's just a few, there's no worse feeling that NOT having the right products with you. Been there, done that, never again! :dblthumb2:

I just can't get over how they are nearly 3 times the price of the pads I use.

LOL! Sold the 5.0, now to a 350z. I have a serious GF now. Bigger plans in the near future. :doh:

Yeah I'm missing that in between medium combo on rock hard paint even though fg400 finishes really well I might need something else. Something to bridge mf and fg400 and sf4500 and the white rupes. If I'm working on friend's cars, it's so much more of a challenge as I need 2 or 3 steps sometimes. With my car, I can one step with spf and rupes yellow with a work time of just over a minute per panel. SPF and rupes yellow is great for my car. I don't know how soft your nissan paint is, but if it's like mine it's such an easy combo to work with and it finishes great.

I look forward to getting more time with the rupes. I liked the flex, but I didn't feel in control with it as much as I do with the rupes.

I'm looking at scholl pads or maybe the green rupes. KB sent me one for free to try out when I bought a buttload of yellows and whites. The thing I like about the rupes pads is the angle of the edge. I can hit some curved panels without fear that I'm going to hit the backing plate. I don't have the same sense of security with the thin mf pads on curved panels.
