Someone hit my car and drove off....

Oh man do I feel your pain! Not to one up you, but my car was parked on the street do to my neighbors tree raining sap all over my car. I come back from the gym later in the day and notice my mirror pushed back and then see the left front fender smashed in and the bumper sagging. WTF?!?! I move it to keep sap and bugs off it, just to get it hit and that A$$H@!3 couldn't leave me a note. $2,743.13. Thank goodness for AAA. I'll post pics later when I get home to use my laptop.

This isn't a detail related question but I'm hoping someone here is familiar with autobody.

I didn't notice until yesterday but it seems as if someone backed into my car and drove away while I was at a store or in class. The soonest I'll be able to get an estimate and contact insurance is Monday. I'm hoping someone here can tell me if this can be repaired or if I'll be paying for a new bumper.

Sanded and re-painted

I once had a car that was a magnet for getting damaged. After a couple of times of getting it fixed ( I had done everything to avoid it getting hit by others) I finally threw my hands in the air. A daily driver is hard to keep dent and damage free for the most part. I usually have a parking lot queen and put the most effort into that and keep it as nice as possible. The Solara is on it's way out....trading it in tomorrow.

for what it is worth I used Dr. Color chip on my car and it worked out great!!! I had a big chip and I was able to put paint over and over again then sanded it down. Does not look new but damn close to it!!!.

Well got laid off so I had to use the $$$ for bills, found another job but the gash is still in my bumper. Despite loving the car I'm selling it so I can purchase my dream car. Just need to wait on a paycheck so I can hit the interior with a rug doctor, wash and wax her one more time. It's been a cushy fun ride but I'm ready for something a bit faster. ;D

I have been backed into before and they drive off. Luckily I got a police report and when I contacted my insurance they didn't charge a deductible because of the police report.

These days it's tough to keep a car dent or scrape free with all the jerks and or people texting and driving....

Here is how my 1996 Sentra ended up after some jerk texting while driving ran a red light..... Back in 2009.....

It was a nice car, almost mint condition.....

Ouch. Looks like it hurt. As for a police report they won't do anything around here unless damage is more than $1500.

Just this past week, a woman on her cell phone pulled out suddenly from a parallel parking spot and my wife had to slam on the brakes to avoid t-boning her. As a result, my wife was rear-ended and now there is a gash in the rear bumper cover.

When my wife confronted the woman - - who was still on her cell phone-- she claimed that she wasn't to blame and drove off... While still talking on her phone.

Fortunately the woman who rear-ended my wife was a normal citizen.

Just so u know, if you click on this link u have posted it has some very interesting pictures on it. all pretty revealing of your personal life. Just wanted u to know. LMAO

I can't ####### believe it, someone else hit my goddamn car yesterday and screwed up the paint job the dealership did. I know who did it, a friend of a friend whom is damn near broke. I got an estimate for $450 this time around, I am not filing another claim with my insurance company and if her new BF won't stop jerking me around with "I know a guy who can do it for $100" B.S. then I'm filing a hit and run report.

$100 won't even cover the cost of the paint. Does he think I'm a goddamn idiot?

Look for a bumper repair guy in your area. There are guys who specialize in this kind of work and often will charge half what a body shop does. They usually do used car repairs for dealers - even those with body shops - because the cost is less. I would google "bumper repair" in your area. If you find a good one, they can do an acceptable repair. The only way to get it perfect is to buy a new factory bumper and have a shop who knows really what they are doing paint to match perfectly. That would likely cost 5x what the "bumper guy" charges. Most bumpers can be repaired for under $250.

Um, YEAH!

Um, YEAH!

And speaking of 'bumper repair'.......

My daughter was sitting at a red light Friday afternoon, turning to go to her evening law classes, when the light turned red and the guy in front of her (that was sitting out in the middle of the intersection) decided to slam in in reverse and punch a hole that looks exactly like a class 5 trailer hitch receiver!

Now he first tried to blame it on her, then he said he always turns his truck off at red lights and when he cranked it back up it was in reverse and he 'accidently' backed into her. He also tried to leave! She called the cops ASAP as he was a smartass and being belligerent. He's also a shady sort of guy, (exports wrecked cars to northern Africa) that my wife recognized from the auction she works at.

Cop wrote him a ticket, saying he changed his story at least THREE times and in 17 years he's never seen anything happen like the guy was claiming it did.

Now he's been calling my daughter telling her he wants to take it to HIS mechanic and if she calls his insurance he'll sue her! Oh HEWWLLLL NAWWWWW!!!!! (Especially as the car is still in MY name.) Now if only I can get over this bronchitis /walking pneumonia to where I can talk both long enough and loud enough to crawl his ass then we'll end up with not a 'repaired' bumper on her car but a freaking brand new one! Take that and ship it back to Africa! :bat:
