Yeah definitely I'll sample some and put up my thoughts on it.

Always good to learn how wax is effected by the mixture. Thanks for posting this.
Awesome
Agreed!
Thanks for viewing and contributing :D
Very cool thread. Thanks!

What do you guess is the cost of the raw materials in each batch?
thank you :D
I haven't gotten to adding the more expensive ingredients yet, basically working with an all natural wax base in most of these but >~$10 with jars
Cool project. FYI on the coconut oil, yes it melts to liquid at or above room temps. Since you asked :-).

Store any residual in a cold dark place, and if it food grade, use it on your food, way healthier than other oils. :-)

Also, you can go to one of the DuPont sites and order gloss enhancing polymers to mix in, not sure which ones but I have seen them. (My lady makes, makeup as her hobby) I can ask her if she knows! She orders all sorts of stuff

Also I will test out your wax for you, would be fun helping anyone make a masterpiece, plus maybe when you go mass production we will get a first run pot for free hahaha.
I appreciate all of this input! I will look into DuPonts polymers
That'd be appreciated please let me know :D
Added you to the list and haha something along those lines ;)
Pretty cool project, ive been wanting to do the same
thank you, whats your plan of attack then? once you start let me know as I'd like to follow your progress. Be warned it's strangely addictive! Good luck

Also would everyone like to see in this wax? Anything in particular?

Very cool project and nice pictures of the project as you move through the projects.

Thanks Mike! I appreciate the positive input and support! Maybe one day this product could be featured in one of yours / autogeek's great and informative write-ups!
Nice work man, you coming out to the local meet next weekend? if so bring some and ill bring my DD to try it out on :)
thanks!
I'm trying to, unsure as of yet, if I can make it and If I have a ProtoWax I'm happy enough with I'll gladly bring it for some test and tune

Update 5

the infamous CD test

Sheeting -- not an official test but

//
ProtoWax 15

Halfway through application -> applied to whole CD

ProtoWax 16 BeesWax based

My home brewing buddy!

USPS and UPS delivered some new goodies today, felt like I did when I got my first autogeek order! haha
Needless to say I had to put some of them to use!
ProtoWax 17 Pioneering territory , at least in my Wax World

~10 waxes are going out for further testing in a bit

Awesome to see! What did you change in the last few batches?

Wow man , just saw this thread ! You never stop mate ! lol

Great job documenting all your work on this project. You have your heart in it that's for sure.

This is the first thread I've read about this kind of project. I'll always have an interest in your work.

Update 6 !

Some real world testing, products tested on a unclayed, abused, unpolished truck, cleaned and IPA'd (as if there was anything there haha)

Waxed vs Non -> ProtoWax

//

My waxes are currently wet on wet off, they'll buff off clean but I cannot get them to haze? Not that this is the biggest issue as I'm not opposed to wet on / off waxes -> as long as it does not turn to concrete like some waxes!

My stand outs .. ProtoWax 4 and ProtoWax 17

I will start with ProtoWax 17
This wax is entirely different from every other one of my productions, and it needs fine tuning however I was very happy with it's first formulation

Note my waxes are basically all natural currently, I haven't gotten to adding silicones and polymers .. yet ;)
Beads and Sheeting!

ProtoWax 4

I have owned about every wax and I would love to give this a try and give you some honest pics/feedback.

Awesome. So do 4 and 17 share any consistencies on their makeup?
