i'm looking for a wheel cleaner for painted rims.
I have a spray painted white rims which are really hard to clean with soap and water. Some areas still have brake dust stain.
It seemed like people who use sonax wheel cleaner, use with pressure water. Can it be used with just rag or something?
If i use pressure water (not that i have it), the body parts around the wheels will get messy.

I wouldn't just wipe it down...if that's what you're asking. You're gonna want to at least rinse it off. You don't need a pressure washer to achieve results. We just like toys. :D

You should rinse the wheels, don't just wipe with a rag. If you have stubborn areas of dirt or brake dust I was told to try applying Sonax with a paint bush to those specific area and allow to dwell once I has dwelled for a while you can agitate and then rinse.

No pressure washer for me. Sorry.

I've now tried Sonax twice. Seems to work pretty well but OPC works quite well for 1/10 the price. I have after the fact pics on my wife's camera but not for this post.

However. WETS on the rims and tires. Clay and Fusion on the Mercedes C class and my sister in law's white Mercedes rocks. Sister in law is happy. Kids are happy. Momma's happy. Hopefully by bro in law will replace this one...

It's good to be my favorite sister in law... It's good to have a good bro in law too...

The dwell time is key. Sonax will not attack the painted finish. I like the paint brush Twister mentioned, and it seems like a minimal mess way to achieve your desired result. I use Sonax with a Daytona Speed brush because it get the inner barrels but I end up wearing alot of splash back. If your trying to keep the rest of the car clean then this isn't going to be the way you want to go. On a side note, Iron X would probably work pretty good on you white wheels too. Also once they are as clean as you can get them, clay bar them and then put a sealer on them. I use 845IW, but I've heard Rejex works well too. Easier clean up next go round.

oh i see. so instead of apply sonax to all surface, just apply to where brake dust stains are :)
I searched and came out that Sonax is the best wheel cleaner.

It's a good wheel cleaner. It does not seem to strip tire dressings like some cleaners.

Just a heads up. Make sure that the wheels are cool when you spray them. Don't pre-rinse the wheels (or let them dry) before application. You may see some rust formation on your rotors in excess vs other wheel cleaning solutions.

It's something that you should try but I want to try several others before I can decide on "what's best."

SOnax is over priced bull crap.

Look into this yourself, and you will find Brown Royal is better in every way..
