Hi all. New to the forums. I've usually been content to run my cars through the local car wash or occasionally do a wash & wax myself with whatever was @ the local store.

Until...I came home with this a couple of weeks ago:

Since it's a rather special car, I wanted to learn a little more. It's a 1993 C4 Corvette. 43k original, one owner miles. It's in remarkable condition for being 19 years old. In reading over the forum for the last couple of days (I learned about the AG forum from the Corvette forum), I've realized that I have much to learn to bring the Corvette's paint back to its former glory.

Since I'm only about 70 miles north of AG's shop, I'll be signing up for the detailer's bootcamp so I can learn the proper techniques from a pro.

I'll probably remain an amateur content to take care of my own cars rather than go the pro or semi-pro route that many others that frequent this board pursue. However, I do want to be able to pursue professional level results for myself. Looking forward to learning more in the forums and at the class. Cheers!

A gorgeous C4 Corvette and attending some of Mike's classes in Stuart would be a great way to get stared on the right foot.

Everyone starts off as a beginner but with some reading, questions, and trial, error, and practice you'll be amazed how much you'll be able to do. After reading and understanding some of the basics, the more hands on, the quicker you'll build your knowledge and gain experience.

This link contains articles written by Mike Phillips so spend some time reading.

Basic steps in order are:

Make detailing enjoyable and practice. Take your time and do not become overwhelmed. Just because there are a thousand products doesn't mean you have to use them all. Pick one product from each category from the steps above.

Here's some great information by Mike Phillips that will help you.

Welcome to the forum! Since you just got a "new" Corvette, I'll presume you're doing ok in the "new" Spacecoast economy.

Welcome to Autogeek Online! You should love the Detailing Boot Camp.

BobbyG...thanks for the info & the links! Very much appreciated. :xyxthumbs:

As far as the economy on the Space Coast...I'm doing much better than I had been. At one time I was a district manager for a large retail / rental company. They've all but gone out of business and I lost my job a couple of years back. Took 6 months to find a new one. I'm still not earning what I used to...but I like what I do now and there's room to advance. If not, I can always detail cars properly after attending the Bootcamp. :cruisin:

Thanks again for the welcome!

Wow! that is low mileage for that car and from the picture it looks to be in pristine condition, at least not driven like it was stolen.

Welcome, and nice 'Vette!

Looks like you are taking the best approach to learn how to detail. Warning: It can be addictive!
