Hello Everyone,

I am switching over from T-Mobile to either Sprint or Verizon. Which one should i go with? I live in Illinois where both carriers service is excellent and I don't travel out of the country often where i would need my phone.

Any suggestions?

If both services are good in your area, should go with the cheapest one.

I have Verizon because all other service in the NY metro area blows.

Verizon's coverage is hard to beat, and having been with them for 7 years now, I can only recall 3, maybe 4 instances where service was out for for an hour or so, and it was usually at odd hours of the night/morning. That being said, Verizon plans are expensive, particularly the smart phone ones, and upgrading prior to it being available on your contract is stupidly expensive. Make sure you get the device you want when you sign your contract into effect.

To add, if Sprint offers great coverage and service in your area, and you don't travel nor need the coverage that Verizon offers, it only makes sense to me to go with the cheaper option.

I had T-Mobile and how bad was that? Verizon is much better although more expensive. Sprint is good but the customer service isn't that great.

And that's what i was thinking, however that one day that i do go somewhere, i do want to have service. The good thing is, i have a work phone (U.S. Cellular) and a personal (that's the one i will be switching) so i can use the other one if something comes up.

I have heard stories about Sprint but their plans and phone prices are very attractive.

Reason i am switching from T-Mobile is their phone prices, for those who have T-Mobile, you probably know that all their phones are full price now, no more discounts, therefore making the Iphone 5 $629.99 and the cheapest android is in the high $400 area.No thank you!

Sprint and Verizon iPhones are between $99-$199

*With a 2 year contract, and you'll want to insure your device as well, because replacing them ain't cheap when you're on Verizon.

T-Mobile = Cheap
Sprint = Internet is slow in certain area
Verizon = good but expensive

I have tmobile don't have any complaints. I switched to Sprint last year they were horrible. I went back to tmobile in 3days...

I say if you want to leave T-Mobile go to Verizon

If you live in Illinois is US Cell an option for you? Im north of you, but they have the best customer service in my experiences and in the Midwest they have excellent coverage compared to other carriers. US Cell will still bend over for you if you need them too, the others tend to just leave you hanging in my experiences.

No contracts after 2 years is one of their perks, the belief points are also nice. They let you upgrade phones much faster which seems to be needed with my environment and the way smart phones are. With this program I haven't kept a phone longer than a year the last 3 times. Two other people on our plan also rotate phones quickly. The others on the plan do not use their phones much and still have Razr's. This is why the rest of us can upgrade often, you are allowed to use any of the lines to upgrade your phone. So if phone 1 needs to be upgraded and line 3 is eligible, you can just use that (im guessing other carriers are the same), if none of the lines are eligible you can pick the one that is closest to becoming eligible and then apply belief points to move the date closer providing you have enough belief points. The more you spend with them and the more on time your bill is, the more belief points you get.

Like any cell company they have their issues as well, but overall I have enjoyed dealing with them.

They are missing one thing that keeps a lot of customers away, the iPhone, personally I do not want one nor do I like the iPhone so its not an issue for me, but for those who have to have one, it could be a problem.

I went over to Sprint a few years ago after speaking with several friends who said they had been very happy with them. About 2 months after I switched, their 3G network speed (no 4G in Detroit area) went from about 2Mbs (which is nothing to write home about) to at best 50Kbs!!! I had better speeds back in my dial-up days.

I sucked it up for about a year and a half but I couldn't take it anymore and switched to Verizon. I get 40-50Mbs downloads now. Incredible speed. On top of that, my bill only went up about 8 bucks. I am on a 2GB data plan now but I'm not a heavy data user (about 500-700mb/month).

Verizon......I had them since 1991. I had no problems with their service. Great customer service.

+1 for Sprint, changed over from T-Mobile myself couldn't be happier. They recently changed all thier towers so the reception is great Idk if that's just for Illinois only tho. A little bonus since you live in addison, the sprint/Nextel over on lake across from mini golf is one of thier repair stores so they fix and replace things fast unlike the one by giordanos

thanks for the info, i actually had U.S. Cellular for 9 years before switching to T-Mobile, mainly due to U.S. Cell. price and lack of good phones..

Loyal customer!! :)
