Here is one of my favorite shot of it:

Jen I posted this before..and will again....

That VW is by far one of the deepest wettest looking blacks I have seen....

that paint is a mile deep....your work is outstanding....I would let you shine any car of mine with out thinking twice....you are going to give some of the boys here a run for the money..lol...me included....

OUTSTANDING>>>>Keep up the great work....

Al

Charles, I can see why that picture is your favorite shot!! It is a truly beautiful car!!! You brought it back from the dead!! :applause:

Joe, honestly, I never got a mail from you, if I had you know I would have responded right away, thank you though for thinking of me. :)

Al, your comments are too sweet. I'm sure you can see the flaws in the bug if you look close enough. I did the best that I could considering the condition that it was in. Your comments are very generous and kind. :)

I don't know what your talking about Jen!! I don't see any flaws. The only thing I see is either you need to take a gutzler to it cuz it soaking wet or take it out of the furness cuz that paint is melting. Other than that it looks perfect to me!!

:iagree: LOL. Good way of putting it, XO!! She's just being modest. That is one awesome job on the Bug. I took off my glasses to look closely at the pictures (I know I need bifocals, but I'm fighting it:)). The only thing I could see were tiny pixels, and my noseprint on the screen.

Jen I'm not worthy of veiwing your work my reaction to the bug you did --->

I used XMT 3 and 1 finished with the XMT carnauba finishing glaze and then did one layer of Souveran paste wax. Thank you everybody for your kind and gracious compliments. (she says blushing) :o

Hi,

I'm new here and I was just browsing and basically just looking to see how good this product really is. Well after seeing FloridaNative result....I was moved Im the MAN . I have never seen such detail in a car. I have a 2006 Lexus GX470 and I've polished it and I thought I made that thing shine but after seeing FloridaNative results my mouth dropped and couldn't help but drule a little.

Well this brings me to my next point. I love spending time in the garage waxing and polishing my vehicles and I was wondering if you guys could give me some feed back about this product. I've seen the results but I need more education on how to properly wax and polish a car. I read through the detailed explenation that FloridaNative posted and some of those things I've never used. Can someone direct me to a place that explain how to use all of these things. For example what is this "..XMT 3 and 1 finished with the XMT carnauba finishing glaze and then did one layer of Souveran paste wax." I'm sirously considering purchasing some Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint sealant and some Pinnacle Souveran Carnauba wax but do you simply follow the instruction and apply or are there hiden secrets that you experianced users have learned and would like to share with me?

I should mention that I've never used a machine to wax or polish, I'm an oldchool type of guy. I like the old fashion elbow grease.

I got a nother question, can you get results like FloridaNative with old school elbow grease? If the answer is no then could you guys give me some pointers as to what type of machine should I looking at purchasing.

Well if this post is in the wrong spot please forgive me but I was simply  by FloridaNative results and I defenetly would like more informationa bout the product.

Hey FloridaNative,

Do you detail for pleasure or do you do it for a living? I hope you don't mind asking but the reason I ask is because I detail my cars because I love seeing my cars clean and I was wondering if I could trouble with some questions I have.

If you take a look at FN's post you'll see that she spent a ton of hours to make this car look the way it did. There are many factors to take into consideration when answering your question as to whether or not you can make a finish look this way by hand. I think that the short answer is probably not. There are exceptions to this statement and if a finish doesn't have too many swirls, scratches or marring then perhaps. I think that FN would probably tell you the same thing. She's someone who has tried it by hand and now uses the PC. I can't even imagine how long it might have taken her to try to do this by hand and the truth is that she couldn't

The good news here is that if you actually like doing this kind of work you can buy a machine like the Porter Cable she used. It is not terribly expensive and will pay for itself time and again when using on your own car not to mention family and friends. If you're not into this kind of work, save your money and pay someone like FN to take care of it for you. Pinnacle Souveran is absolutely my favorite wax and well worth it's price though somewhat expensive by some peoples standards. That said, preparation, the wash, claying and properly polishing is what will make your finish pop. No matter how good the wax, the wax itself just won't deliver what you are seeing. Proper prep and a $10 wax will look better than a $70 wax on a surface that isn't ready for it.

The learning curve on using a random orbital polisher when compared to an rotary polisher is minimal and you would be hard pressed to damage your finish using a PC. Don't let the thought of using one scare you. Even if you're an old schooler I believe that the route I'm suggesting is your best bet in duplicating what you've seen. I would suggest you take a little time and read up on the different polishes available through AutoGeek. I believe the store has a couple of videos that describe the process (click the Detailing Tips link at the top left of this page). Both PoorBoys and Pinnacles XMT lines are polishes that are easy to use, forgiving and offer great results. Even after everything is said and done, remember that FloridaNative is good at the craft and it will take some practice to be able to knock them out like she does. Best of luck. :D

Hi GearHead_1

First of all thank you for taking the time to respond, I appretiatate it. I had a feeling that the answer to one of my questions about acomplishing a perfect shine with just elbow grease would be almost impossible but worth asking. Now I have some more questions:

1) This term "Clay Magic" or "clay lube", what exactly is this?
2) The "XMT line"? What is it? Where can I get it and read up on it?
3) What does LSP stand for?
4) This "cutting pad" does it do exactly as the name says...cutt the paint? I know that it cuts a layer of the clearcoat but how do you restore the clearcoat by applying Souveran paste wax?
5) The levels of the XMT line up how many are there and what exacly to they do? How do you know which one to use?
6) If I was to pay someone to do this for me how much would I be looking at? Rough number?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm really sirous about purchasing all the equipment and experementing on the old beater first and then moving on to my Lexus. Like I said this is more like hobby for me and I don't mind spending some coin to pamper my vehicles. Now you may be asking your self, why doesn't this guy just pay someone to do it for him? Well I've always believed that if you do it your self you will be proud and appretiate it more then just paying someone to do a mideocre job. Now if I lived close to FloridaNative then I would definetly dish out the coin to make my cars look like that :awesome: .

im still learning here as well but i can answer a few questions for you.

1) This term "Clay Magic" or "clay lube", what exactly is this?

Clay magic is a brand of clay sold at stores like autozone,it runs about 10 bucks and includes clay lube. Clay lube is generally a quick detailer of some sorts, and as the name implies is used as a lube for the clay. Clay will remove embedded particles in your cars clear coat, nesescary before polishing because those contaminants will break loose and cause more swirls than you already have.

2) The "XMT line"? What is it? Where can I get it and read up on it?

xmt is a line of polishes, there are numerous threads on the boards here that can explain more in depth and better than i can. It is sold here at autogeek.

3) What does LSP stand for?

Last Step Product

4) This "cutting pad" does it do exactly as the name says...cutt the paint? I know that it cuts a layer of the clearcoat but how do you restore the clearcoat by applying Souveran paste wax?

I may be wrong but i believe the "cut" has to do with the softness of the pad.

5) The levels of the XMT line up how many are there and what exacly to they do? How do you know which one to use?

i believe there are 2 levels xmt 3 and xmt 1 or ultra fine swirl removal, and from what ive seen most people run a pass or 2 with xmt 3 followed by 1 and then move onto a pre sealant wipe down

6) If I was to pay someone to do this for me how much would I be looking at? Rough number?

cant help you there ;)
