Strike Through! 1931 Auburn

Glad to hear it wasn't your fault and that you had documentation. :dblthumb2:

That being said, burns happen, especially on older cars where you don't know the history. Burning and edge is one thing, but if you've done your homework, taken multiple PTG readings, and still end up going threw on an open area, well, there is not much more you can do. You can't "realistically" measure the paint thickness on every square inch of the car as it's a pinpoint reading.

I'm not ashamed to admit I've blown through on a few cars over the last 27 years. I've had a vehicle not to long ago that showed very healthy PTG readings all over, except for that one are about the size of a silver dollar that I didn't measure. Apparently that one area that was super thin and I blew though on the first pass doing just a 2-step correction job. I offered to pay for a repaint but the owner declined and understood sometimes things just happen that are unavoidable.

Thank you for sharing that. It's good to hear that from you. Even the best laid plans can bite you!

Wow! Glad to read this whole story...and see a 'relieved' ending at least. Glad you took those 'before' photos, they saved your sanity, and helped you sleep well!
