Not only did we have to let the cleaner dwell, but we had to scrape it off with plastic razors too. This marred the paint really bad, but it wasnt anything we couldnt fix.

Hours go by as we meticulously clean every nook to show no signs of spray. Blue stands out very well on red.

Heavy enzyme decon. We allowed over half an hour of dwell with our mixture, as well as directly cleaning areas with 10:1 APC

Shame that plastidip tends to get a bad rap because so many people get lazy and fail to properly mask, or spray adequate amount of layers that allow for proper peeling. But you guys did a really good job on cleaning it up. Not sure what cleaner your using but in my experience, Tarminator seems to work really really well for cleaning up plastidip especially when sprayed onto a junk microfiber and agitating.

I'll make this quick! some pictures came out blurry because i had gloves on. Sorry!

I am not into the jap cars at all but why does the motor have toyota and subaru names on it? Plus it has Boxer on it. Thought that was a porsh. Nice work though. Weird car

Subaru BRZ + Scion (aka Toyota) FRS are "essentially" the same cars.

I was thinking of testing some plasti dip on my car, but after this I think I will pass. The OCD would kick into overdrive taking it off and end up going into convulsions.

Great work though, it looks awesome!

Not a weird car at all, I guess there are some people not into cars. The SiriusXM guy I called today didn't know what a BRZ was either. Strange when the Toyota86 is loved by every car magazine.

Glad it is spurring other companies to make similar cars again too. Can't wait to see what Nissan does if they follow through with making a competitor.

Much more fun than the other cars in the price range that, while also fun, stick you with FWD.

Tarminator works. But its a strong petroleum distillates. Prolonged exposure to acrylic clear coat could soften or damage it :) We use a paint safe! Its a blend of citrus cleaners and spirits!

And yes OCD is a problem with many of us! We felt if we could find it, the customer could. He was very clear. NO BLUE. :)

Because it is a Subaru boxer engine (all Subarus have a boxer) with Toyota's direct injection technology.

Lots of manufactures cross pollinate their products. Toyota built the Pontiac Vibe (Toyota Matrix), a few new Toyotas will be partially built with the Mazda Skyactive motor in a Mazda factory in Mexico. The FRS/BRZ seen above is a cooperative project between Toyota and Subaru. Unfortunately for Subaru, the FRS is selling like mad, while the BRZ is a bit stale.

There have been several project between GM and Toyota, though many of them never came to be.

Shoot, I remember reading that GM and Ford were teaming up to build 2 transmissions. GM was to build a 9 speed version, and Ford an 10 which each company would use.

Here is the article
Ford and GM team up on 9-speed transmission - Apr. 15, 2013

To the OP, nice work on that car. Not sure why anyone would want to hide that beautiful red paint. I can only image the patience required to do that project.

I just removed the clear bra off my hood today and there is a lot of glue left behind. I tried CarPro Trix, Nanoskin Mitt, and a plastic razor but it didn't have much effect.

Do you mind sharing your process?

boxer = cylinders directly opposed. Think of the pistons like a man boxing, hence the name for the motor. IMHO the whole design is great and the best part is,,How many ppl noticed where the oil filter was located? No crawling under nothing, no arm half way down in the motor. Changing it is as easy as putting in wiper fluid.

Hi Koshi,

Long time no see.... will you be at SEMA this year?

Previous dip installer wasn't generous in tight areas making it a real pain to remove traditionally.

So the entire removal process would have been a breeze if the person that applied the Plasti-dip would have just laid down a thicker layer?

I have a customer bring me a brand new BMW 535i from Tampa this weekend and it's Love Bug Season around here. I plan on making him a Scotch brand, blue painter's tape bra for the drive home.

:)

Extremely easy to remove if done right:

Mike! I hope to be at SEMA this year! Already have a few project lined up around that date, but currently im in the middle of building my state of the art auto salon!

It will be a breeze to remove if sprayed properly. I work with a Pearls & Pigments company that makes pearls for plastidipping. We mixed pearls into the dip and removing it is even FASTER than the video!

Our house GTR has been dipped many times. It was driven across the country twice and raced for almost a year. Not a single rock chip and it pulled off clean!

You can pull it off like a table cloth.

Sure thing. I have the products in my album i'll Dig them up :props:

Let's not forget the GT86!

Koshi, nice work! Did you find that red paint was very soft? I have a black FR-S and it is soft as butter.

Its average! About as hard as a G35 or 350z. It softened a little after the scrapping.

But we wiped it with alcohol and gave it plenty of time to completely dry before coating.
