So today while driving home from school, I come up to a stoplight. Then BOOM! someone slams into the back right corner of me. What happens next? The guy guns it around me and takes off like none other. I could've caught up to his Honda civic but I was in too much shock of what happened that I had to pull over.

Well I have to go make an insurance claim tomorrow. Sucks to drive something that costs a lot to repair...

Anyone else been hit and ran?

Man, people these days just dont have any respect for other peoples things (not to mention no insurance).

Hope the cost to get everything fixed isnt too bad!

Such a sweet car too. Hope you get it fixed quick!

Can't see all that much damage (sheet metal, taillight cover)etc.,looks to me you could pull that bumper cover off and put some heat to it and massage it back out and put it back on in under two hours....keep in mind though it will need some refinishing though in the long run (clear coat will be fractured)!

Forgot to mention...yes my truck was hit in front of my house while it was parked in front on the street,I got a nice check for the damages though which I can fix myself though since I took auto body and paint in school!
Maybe take a class yourself and repair it too!

thats a simple one to fix, this is what i would do if possible, get insurance claim(if your rate wont go higher) get it quoted, let them send you a check and i would use a heatgun to lightly heat up the bumper and you can push that dent out, now the paint will possibly be cracked around the dent but will look better then it does and maybe get it spot painted if needed.

Damn, sucks he just drove off like that. Thing is when you're hit in the rear like that, the sound often sounds like there's a lot of damage so even if you weren't in shock, untill you get out and examine the damage you don't often realise your car is still in a state to chase them.

The sort of behavior that driver exhibited really annoys me

This SUCKS!!!

Go back and see if there are any surveillance cameras around

I once had a lady in a scooter rear end me at a red light!!

I gave her a WTH expression with super angry look! and she wasn't even apologetic!! :bat: As soon as the light turned green I left her in a cloud of dust!!

Fortunately, my rear license plate took all the damage and saved the paint!! :D

The problem is, is that there are actual holes on this bumper and paint is coming of big time under it. I can't do it myself really.

  1. Sorry to hear especially on such a gorgeous car
  2. Glad you weren't hurt
  3. You should have tore out after this dirt-bag and at least got the tag number
  4. Hit and run is a felony in many states
  5. The damage "seems" minor and can be fixed

I had a woman run into the back of my truck as I pulled into a bank one day. She was bull$hitting with her daughter, pilled in right behind me and tagged the right rear corner pf my bumper.

I got out of the truck and she started saying that I was pulling in too slow...HA, I don't drive slow. I snapped back telling her she was yapping with her daughter and wasn't paying attention......like most woman driving...she stopped yapping.

My damage - slight mark of green paint on the corner of my bumper that came off with a brush.

Her damage - front fascia, grill, molding, AC and radiator...

Bottom line - People for the most part ............... :bat:

Oh man...I'm so sorry to see/hear about this. This really sucks. Karma will get him back.

Sorry to hear about this, but I don't think the damage will be that bad like others have said. Unless there is some more "hidden" damage underneath.

Sorry to hear this, and, yes, it sucks.

I got rear ended years ago, but the person who hit me was very apologetic. Driving a company car, and had to explain it to her boss as well as get a ticket. Hope she didn't get in trouble with her job over it. It was the idiot in front of me who caused it, he pulled out in front of me and drove 20 mph until he turned into a driveway (No turn signal until he heard tires squealing).

Trust me, it will. I'm amazed at how low people can go, when it comes to the many ways of damaging someone's vehicle (dings, hit and run, etc). The one's i hate are the one's who are staring at your ride (especially after a nice detail), while so mesmerized you can swear they're about to hit you.

A little off topic.

When someone does something retarded like pulling out in front of me or something where I have to break suddenly. I cant help but look into my rear view mirror to see if the person behind me is paying attention/braking enough.

I once actually shot left out into the break down lane because I was convinced that person behind me was not stopping in time. I would have been okay but I didnt want to risk my car so I got out the their way.

I am sorry to see that this happened to you. People just don't even care anymore. Having said that, I work for a major insurance company (you see alot of their commericals on TV), and for damages resulting from this incident, will be covered under your collision coverage (if you have it). Make a call to your agent or company and tell them the story (someone rear ended me at a light and took off). What I would do is get an estimate before you call, then find out what your deductible is. For example; if you have $750 worth of damage and have a $500 deductible, your insurance will pay $250, not worth making a claim and taking the chance of the company raising your rates. If it is $1,000 worth of damage and you have...well you get the point. Good luck with everything! :props:
