I am an amateur detailer. I have a couple of months old 2013 SL550 that is Mars red. I have clayed the car and put on a coat of FK Pink Wax with good result, but decided that I wanted more pop. I did the hood last night with Klasse Aio followed by Collinite 845 with my PC DA. It looks good, but I really can't see much difference between the combo and the FK Pink.

What would you suggest to get a deeper shine?

22ple VX1 Pro is extremely easy to apply. Spread it, wait 3-5 minutes depending on your ambient conditions, and then easily wipe away without using any pressure.

I've even done some experimenting and find the coating is still easy to wipe away after 15 minutes or so... so if you find you missed a spot or left a small streak somewhere, you don't need to polish it off if you catch it within the first 15-20 minutes.

Here are a few pics from when I coated my dad's TSX with 22ple VX1 Pro:

I have never used the consumer version of CQuartz, but I hear it can be more finicky to work with. The UK version is supposed to be better to work with (CQuartz UK, and is available in the US as well).

Unless there's the need to "refine the finish" a little more by ultra-fine polishing;
and, if Mars Red isn't a "metallic"...

It's going to be kinda difficult to get the "shine" to:
POP! much more...than you say it already does.

Thanks. The TSX looks great. Maybe I'll try it on my wife's car to make sure the application is good.

Always a good point...

remember that the final appearance of your vehicle relies MOSTLY on the condition of the paint, and the LSP only slightly enhances that appearance in the grand scheme of things.

You can put whatever you want on a swirled out car (just speaking in general, not stating that your car is swirly), but it will never shine like a properly polished vehicle.

It's not a metallic. Here is a picture of the car with the FK Pink.

Thanks for the reminder. There won't be any swirls when I put on the LSP if there are any now.

Yeah, but Santa can use Carnuba which melts here in central Texas :)

I bet you've heard that it's difficult to get a "deep shine" except from Carnauba/Carnauba-based wax products.

But: "Finish Kare 2685 Pink Paste Wax is blended from premium Brazilian Carnauba wax plus high tech poly resins"...

In my book that's an hybrid-wax...
perhaps one of the better shine-solutions for your area of the Country.
That...or: Finish Kare Hi-Temp!!

Also:
-KAIO is an acrylic-sealant/AIO.
Collinite #845 is a most ideal: High-temp Carnauba-based liquid wax!

(Just thinking aloud.)

:)

I'm thinking that I may play around with the AIO and collinite some more before going to a silica coating. Looking at a few videos online I see that some folks have incurred streaking with application errors and some seem to be disappointed with the longevity. At least with what I am using I can always remove and try again.

The wife thinks I am nuts to keep trying different things, but I like to experiment and enjoy the results. It's a harmless hobby other than a little time and money and of course the garage space for my stuff.

You can also remove coatings just so ya know... you just have to polish them away.

They are permanent in that if they are not removed via machine polishing, they may provide protection for the life of the vehicle.

Many coatings claim ~2 years of durability, but in reality if they are properly maintained they can last much longer.

And there ya' go! :D Long as she realizes the other option is instead of hanging out in the garage all night, is you hanging out all night with your buddies at the midnight driving range, or worse yet, the "shoe show". (You know, the place where the ladies wear nothing but shoes.) I do neither, never have - never will. ;)

Some day if you really want to work for it to get that extra 'pop', you can jewel the finish. Grab some Menz SF4500 and a red pad, even a gold pad at the end and you'll have it so slick that you'll not even want to put the cover on it. (I actually stopped covering my G35 in the garage with the lightweight oem cover BECAUSE it was scratching the paint getting it on and off.) :dunno:

The LSP only looks as good as what's underneath it. In the case of jeweling it'll be the best it's ever going to get. Setting aside the argument over the 'look' of a sealant versus a wax, especially old school carnauba fans then it's all about what YOU like. :props:

Thanks. I may try the jeweling before the LSP this time. The weather is nice this time of year in the garage here in Central Texas. We've survived another summer.

I hear ya' brother. Same thing hear. Fairly clear days (still shorts weather though) and cooler nights.

As slick as you have that puppy, might try OC or CQuartz, especially with winter coming up.
