Suggestions on what to buy your significant other

My wife tells me if you have the $$$$$ get jewelry. I don't so I think I am safe. lol We take care of the kids first then after the first of the year we do ourselves once the dust has settled. I think after 20+ years and 5 kids it still works.

I got my wife and I into a house and finally moving out of our apartment. Tried to keep it a surprise for her, but eventually she asked me and I had to be honest. She squealed with excitement. Unfortunately we've had to put Christmas on hold with all of the packing / moving going on. My wife did surprise me with a CG pad washer (best gift ever!). Not able to get her anything to open under the tree, but in all honesty.... A house, a garage, a yard, and her favorite... A fireplace! should make up for it :)

I gave my better half a dozen roses in early November which she loved because they were a complete surprise for her. They've been next to the front door so that we (and visitors) can see and appreciate them every day and ten of them are in good shape nearly seven weeks later.

Whatever you choose to give your loved one, you don't have to wait for Christmas!

I'd go with jewelry......

Funny I ran across this thread.
My husband and I just had a conversation that we don't want to exchange gifts next year for Chanukah/Xmas.
This sounds lame, but after you give someone a list and get a list back, the surprise is gone.
And honestly, anything I want I can buy myself. That, and anything I want anymore is way too expensive to ask for as a gift.

Simple, I large diamond wedding band. If you are not married, a large diamond engagement or friendship ring. I mean large.

My girlfriend and I never spend over $20 for Christmas or birthdays on each other. Being college students with no money, it helps us both out, plus you really dig deeper to get something extra special. It's worked great for us!

We are just glad when the Family can just get together!

Sounds like our house Tim. :)

Actually we just found out yesterday that Christmas will be at our house this year. We've always gone to Nana's on Christmas Eve, ever since we were dating actually. My Father in law worked for the railroad and was always "on call" Christmas day so their tradition was Christmas eve when they were growing up.

That stuck, and made it easier actually as come Christmas day we could go to my folks. That was until the kids were born (took 10 years for the first one). Then we still did Nana's, then did our thing at the house early and went to Mom's for supper.

This year Nana is COMING HERE! :D And the wife's brother and his family are flying in from Yorba Linda. It'll be nice to have a place big enough for us all not to be on top of one another. I know the kids (even though mine are grown, and his youngest is 17) will surely like hanging out in the game room rather than Nana's den. :dblthumb2:

I'll be really great for Nana and Papa to get out of the house too. Not too many more years with them, so taking the stress of of her with all the cooking is AWESOME. We'll start cooking Tuesday morning and cook all freaking day. :) Love the smell of tons of Holiday food and that 'feeling' you get when you breeze through the kitchen when it's all a flutter. Plus.... I've got a new son in law this year! ;) Gotta' break that boy in RIGHT!!! :bat:

RE: POTS AND PANS

I asked my wife what she wanted, she said "Take me someplace I haven't been in a long time." I said "How about the kitchen?"

Ohhhhhhhh that's cold dude!
Me see's you on a diet, vwee-vwee soon.

Negatory good buddy :) This house is a bit off the beaten path and in a nice quiet neighborhood, backs right up to an orchard where I can take the dogs and go run around :)

My girlfriend and I operate along the same lines. A thoughtful/meaningful gift doesn't have to cost much or anything. :props:

:iagree: ive been making stuff like cards and redeemable coupons and other things like that for my wife for a while now. roses are nice too.

if you have any kind of understanding of one another, it shouldnt be too hard to pick out a material thing that she wont completely pretend to like
