Swirls returning after paint correction

Thanks everyone!

I have my Rupes in the mail so it looks like another correction session is in order. Ill also demote the workhorse to interior only to be sure. Two questions:

Do you recommend any specific MF for a soft paint vehicle? I have trouble pulling wax off with a super plush MF.

Thoughts on using Menzerna top inspection spray after i polish again? Hoping it will show imperfections i was not seeing previously?
 
Depotsti - I found on soft paints I was better to use a WOWA sealant before I started using coatings. The WOWA minimized additional rubbing on the paint with MF's. That combined with rinsless washes minimized the swirling.

This ^^^ completely agree. Touch less does not clean thoroughly enough, they will leave a slight film that looks clean but not 100%. Do a rinsless when you get home then do your spray waxes or sealant. Better yet skip the touchless and save your money. Rinsless washes work great.
 
I was leaning this way too. Ive never had problems in the past with microfibers or drying. I think the touchless isnt removing all dust and dirt and im spreading it around. I do notice i sometimes will getting a very soiled MF when i get down to the side skirts.

What rinseless would you recommend for a soft paint application?

Due to my current living situation i bring the car to a touchless wash and get a wash and dry. I then drive the car back to my garage and blow down with the blowmaster to remove any remaining water. Then its chemical guys v07 on the entire car. I use mostly the exterior work horse micro fibers with a couple of the autozone specials mixed in...could that be causing it? Thanks for the help

That's why you've got swirls again.

If I go through a touchless, I'd never put a towel on the car unless I'm waterless washing it.

Really any of the ones talked about constantly, but the ones I use frequently on the cars I take car of (which are all soft paint Acuras or Porsches) have been D114 (RW & WW) Duragloss Rinseless wash with Aquawax, and Ultima Waterless Wash+ (haven't used as a rinseless yet but it has a dilution ratio for it - great WW though).

The key is good product and good towels.
 
What do your towels look like after the VO7? If they're picking up dirt then you should be doing a rinseless are waterless wash after you go through the touchless wash using a lot of quality towels for the wash and to dry.
 
The towels look clean for the most part but there are definitely spots that are soiled. Like i said by the side skirts and real wheels. I do wash my MF after every use. Are they compromised or will the wash get most dirt out so i can re-use?
 
Doesn't matter how clean a towel is. I have found very few MF towels that don't scratch paint.
 
Your car is picking up dirt on the way home from the wash. Simple as that. That coupled with a touchless not actually getting the car 100% clean, that is where your swirls are coming from.

Like others have said, use a rinseless after the touchless, or skip the touchless all together.

first of all, i hope you are having fun with your car. sometimes i miss my STI.

second, sun will show all. in those garage shots you posted, i see a little bit highlighted by a light source, but they are reflection shots and marring won't show up in those. but we can assume you used the lights just like the sun to inspect for such marring, even if those pictures don't represent that.

for waterless, i've been using 75% Opti-Clean, 25% 4:1 Optimum Instant Detailer. this combo is super duper slick and has the massive safe waterless cleaning action of Opti-Clean.

as mentioned, good towels are a must for such vulnerable paint, but using good product and ENOUGH product is key. to be honest, the only alternative to a full wash that i'd do on your car is a rinseless. i'd keep the waterless for true touch up situations like bird droppings and such. i would not do waterless washes on that car without it being coated, period.

but ultimately, as was suggested, a coating will help you immensely. the car will stay cleaner, longer and when you do have to clean it, the strange, soft Subaru clear will be protected. however, installing the coating must be done with specific care as to not instill any marring during the process.

Like the last poster said. ONR will work great for you. I have had a lot of Black Cars.I swear by ONR with Black. The slickness you need for black is there. And a Grit Guard. And a good wh mit. With ONR life will be easy for you and no matter the situation you can always find a space and a 5 gallon bucket and a few gallons of water. And it will take less time then your local touch less.
