Almost everyone knows someone who's life changed on this day seven years ago. We all need to take a moment and not forget those that gave their lives for us, and those who are still giving their lives for us! I knew someone on flight 93 that use to be a police officer in our town.

The somber music and voices of the United States Air Force Band at the Pentagon signaled the beginning of solemn memorial services Thursday to honor the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Seven years ago, al Qaeda terrorists used hijacked airplanes to attack the World Trade Center and the Pentagon -- the twin symbols of America's financial and military might. Another hijacked plane crashed in Pennsylvania.
At the Pentagon, the ceremony dedicated a memorial to the 184 victims killed when American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon's west wall.

At the White House, President Bush and first lady Laura Bush, along with Vice President #### Cheney and his wife, Lynne, observed a moment of silence on the South Lawn at 8:46 a.m., the moment when American Airlines Flight 11 struck the north tower of the World Trade Center.
In New York, Mayor Michael Bloomberg introduced a moment of silence also at 8:46 a.m. Throughout the day's ceremonies, he will also call for moments of silence to mark the time the second plane hit the south tower, the fall of the south tower, and then the fall of the north tower.
"We come each year to stand alongside those who loved and lost the most, to bear witness to the day which began like any other and ended as none ever has," Bloomberg said.
Surrounded by police officers, firefighters and other officials, Bloomberg quoted what he called an Irish proverb: "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal."
Relatives then began to read the names of the 2,751 victims at the crash site, commonly called Ground Zero.
Another moment of silence was observed at 9:03 a.m., the moment in 2001 that the south tower of the World Trade Center was struck by United Airlines Flight 175. That tower fell at 9:59 a.m., followed by the collapse of the north tower at 10:29 a.m.
In Shanksville, Pennsylvania, a ceremony was to be held just before 10 a.m. to remember the 40 passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93, who perished after the hijacked plane went down in a field there.
The services were to be held at a temporary memorial near the western Pennsylvania crash site.
