Almost everyone knows someone who's life changed on this day seven years ago. We all need to take a moment and not forget those that gave their lives for us, and those who are still giving their lives for us! I knew someone on flight 93 that use to be a police officer in our town.

She left behind a husband and four children... think about all the people that lost loved ones that day! Makes me feel very fortunate to have the life I have...

From CNN...
The somber music and voices of the United States Air Force Band at the Pentagon signaled the beginning of solemn memorial services Thursday to honor the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Seven years ago, al Qaeda terrorists used hijacked airplanes to attack the World Trade Center and the Pentagon -- the twin symbols of America's financial and military might. Another hijacked plane crashed in Pennsylvania.

At the Pentagon, the ceremony dedicated a memorial to the 184 victims killed when American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon's west wall.

At the White House, President Bush and first lady Laura Bush, along with Vice President #### Cheney and his wife, Lynne, observed a moment of silence on the South Lawn at 8:46 a.m., the moment when American Airlines Flight 11 struck the north tower of the World Trade Center.

In New York, Mayor Michael Bloomberg introduced a moment of silence also at 8:46 a.m. Throughout the day's ceremonies, he will also call for moments of silence to mark the time the second plane hit the south tower, the fall of the south tower, and then the fall of the north tower.

"We come each year to stand alongside those who loved and lost the most, to bear witness to the day which began like any other and ended as none ever has," Bloomberg said.

Surrounded by police officers, firefighters and other officials, Bloomberg quoted what he called an Irish proverb: "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal."

Relatives then began to read the names of the 2,751 victims at the crash site, commonly called Ground Zero.

Another moment of silence was observed at 9:03 a.m., the moment in 2001 that the south tower of the World Trade Center was struck by United Airlines Flight 175. That tower fell at 9:59 a.m., followed by the collapse of the north tower at 10:29 a.m.

In Shanksville, Pennsylvania, a ceremony was to be held just before 10 a.m. to remember the 40 passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93, who perished after the hijacked plane went down in a field there.

The services were to be held at a temporary memorial near the western Pennsylvania crash site.

RIP to all of those who lost their lives that day, and my thoughts go out to their friends and family members.

The lives of all those murdered civilians should be remembered by everyone in this country. The brave soldiers who seek to avenge and prevent further attacks on our soil cannot be thanked enough. Support our troops however you can, even if it's just to say thanks to one you pass in the street. Believe me, it means a great deal to them. It is just too damn easy to take our freedom and lifestyle for granted. Millions of our finest men have died in various wars for us and the many ungrateful nations that they liberated. It is to them and NOBODY else that we owe a huge debt of gratitude.

It is truly unfortunate that most schools no longer teach the depth of death and suffering it takes to maintain a free society. It does not just "happen". Even a cursive study of history shows that every country on earth has fallen to some invader. Lets delay the inevitable as long as possible. This starts by using the first amendment without fear of "offending" anyone and electing honorable politicians who really put their country (and its CITIZENS) first. I fear that there are very few in public office (either side) that fall into that category.

In the end, it is up to "We The People of the United States". That is why it is the first line in the constitution. I'll bet that 90% of politicians have never even read the document. We all should. Knowledge is power. The government should fear its people not the other way around. Get a copy of our Constitution before they ban it completely.

Jay has just stepped off his soapbox..............

the world we know changed dramatically that day, and should always be remembered as well as the many who were harmed and all the families that will forever be changed. The only good to come from that day were neighbors once again respecting, loving, and caring for other neighbors.

Still makes my eyes water 7 years later. 2 days before it happened, I was on a date and we went to a beach in NJ at night and was looking at Staten Island, the Verrazano, Brooklyn and in the back you could see the Twin Towers, and I grew up looking at the skyline and there was something about it that night I was just in awe and kept looking. After Sept 11, I went back to that beach and was looking at the lights they had up, it was a weird feeling. I knew a lot of people that worked in both towers, friends, family, people I went to school with, people I knew from the neighborhood. Well enough rambling. God bless all the families

Meghan,
Yesterday I had more than 10 Flags posted outside my home, I was devastated to see only a handful flying as I made my short 10 mile commute to work. Seems many have already forgotten.
I have searched the Internet for Small maybe 3" X 4" inside the window American Flag Decals for my car to no avail. With your many contacts would you or anyone else reading this happen to know a source in which I may purchase some? I'd like to have one normal and one reversed as is proper when attaching to Vehicle Windows. I am lucky and very proud to be an American. I would really appreciate anyone’s assistance is obtaining some.

Many Thanks

Jay, Excellent Post my son is a U.S. Marine and he made it thru two tours in Iraq and although "he is too tough" to admit it, he does appreciate knowing that those of us at home are thankful to all that protect our freedom.

I used to work in the airline industry for American airlines and due to 9/11 I lost 3 different jobs because of it. I am very thankful that is all I lost though. However all of my friends that are still in the industry are still suffering with job losses, pay cuts and uncertainty about the financial future of their companies. 9/11 has single handily destroyed the airline industry, all of good jobs are are no longer. What used to be a glamorous career is now like working a flying 7-11 store! The amenities that flight attendants would hand out for free are now for sale if even offered at all! What was once a fun and exciting job with good benefits is now a job that most airline employees dread going to with passengers that treat them like crap!

I am thankful of our brave troops overseas and the men and women who fought back on the united flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania. They saved the lives of many more innocent civilians!

I awoke that morning with an intense feeling of trepidation. I knew something was wrong, but I didn't know what. When I got to the bar I worked at then, the first thing I saw on the TV was the plane crashing into the north tower. It took about 10 minutes for me to realize I was watching an event that had happened hours before I woke up. I spent the rest of the day watching the TV and learning everything that had happened.

I am thankful for, and grateful to, the troops that are fighting for our freedom. Their hard work and sacrifice are what keeps us free and strong. However, I have had, and continue to have, one concern. What ever happened to bringing those who are responsible for what happened on 9/11 to justice? The "worker bees" have been caught and punished, yes. The "queen bee" and her keepers are still at large, mostly ignored and forgotten by the masses because of Iraq.

Bring Bin Laden to America and make him pay!! Or, at least bring his dead carcass here so we can all see that he has paid the ultimate price for his indiscretion!
