Teflon Coating - Scam or true?

I know some dealerships around me offer this stuff called "Resist All", and they claim that it lasts years. I had a customer once who insisted I use her Resist All products instead of my own. She had this little kit that they gave her. It was all push button sprayers in small bottles. I turned the job down.

I've also worked on plenty of vehicles where customers have been concerned about stripping this Teflon 5 year sealant of sorts during the detail. While washing these vehicles...it was apparent that there was little, to no protection on the paint. Some of these vehicles were treated just over year prior.

I'd have to call bull on the 5 years. :dblthumb2:
 
Anyone selling Teflon 5 yr protection or any multi-year protection product with a warranty is doing so knowing the product is not worth the claim but the warranty is what makes the sale. The warranty is so loaded with loop holes for the manufacturer that they rarely have to pay out, so crappy product with very little cost from warranty, sweet deal huh? Just look how much they make on the product and how little they pay out for warranty.
 
At the dealer a company will put paint protection on a new car for $150.00. The service dept. charges the sales dept. $250.00. The sales dept. charges the customer $600.00 to $800.00 for the sealant treatment. Everybody makes money except the customer. Teflon is a powder thats mixed with wax and/or sealant. Its not teflon coated, its wax coated mixed with Teflon. CQuartz and Opticoat and similar products are the only sealants that will last a long time.
 
Teflon works fantastic in my frying pan. The eggs slide right out like magic and clean up is a breeze!
 
I will tell you if you can get your hands on resist all Aka cal-tex fabric sealant get it, by far the best, their paint sealant atleast the stuff they made about 10 years ago was acrylic based and lasted a tad longer then a year, their industrial strength fallout remover was the bomb aswell, wish I could still get a few of their products :(
