So, Just an update, following feedback from Mike@Autogeek and everyone else here I have just placed my order for the following :

1) Flex 3401

2) Lake Country Backing Plate Adaptor (to accept 5 in lake country pads, etc)

3) Lake Country Hybrid Pads, 6 Orange, 4 White and 2 Black (to start off)

4) Nanoskin Autoscrub 6in Medium Grade DA pad.

5) Nanoskin Glide Lube Concentrate.

6) Menzerna 400 & Menzerna 3800

7) 3M tape - 25mm x 50m

And lastly my best purchase

"A Complete Guide To A Show Car Shine" (iTunes)
 
Congrats! I went from a DA to the 3401 with forced rotation and will never look back!

Congrats. Great tool for a beginner. Haven't used my 3401 in a long time. Next AIO I do, I'm reaching for the Flex, just because!
 
Perfect setup right there. Orange/white/black is all you really need for now. FG400/SF3500 is a great combo. Might want to pick up an AIO (HDSpeed) for a 1 step, but other than that, congratulations!
 
That order looks to me to be the perfect order! Then again, it's almost exactly my setup on a LOT of jobs. Congratulations, suf420...you'll love all of it.
 
Right on! Flex is for real men. Rupes is for girly men.

What kind of car is this for? Looking at your avatar, since it looks like you have a black car, i'd stick with the SF3800.

I've heard too many good things about the flex and from a technical point of view it has something unique to offer with the fusion of a DA and Forced rotation of a rotary!

order up some McKee's Paint coating too. Mine is done but you should see how it's lit up the metallic flake on our minivan. I did one front fender as a test and I can't wait to have time for the whole van. Will really wake up your Phantom Black Flake on the A8.
