Black is not a color it's a full time job!

But when you perfect it there's nothing like it! I like this shot...

Thanks I wish the book came out more clear. Thanks for teaching me how to detail. Before last year I never even washed my car let alone wax it. I started detailing from scratch a year ago. I read your book, watched your videos, and learned from the forum here almost exclusively.

I absolutely understand why your not supposed to detail a daily driver to a high level but it's all I have. My father already micro marred it looking at the battery this morning, now I'm at the dealer getting work done and the first thing the tech did was lean on the windshield..

It took all my self control not to body slam the guy. I'll be going over it with a fine tooth comb when the work is done and there had better be not a scratch or spot on it.

Anyway thanks again, I appreciate all the help on the forum and stuff

It's true, I've talked to more than a few people who say they will never buy a black car again. Obviously they liked it when they bought it but couldn't or wouldn't learn how to keep it looking good. I tell them I will never buy anything but a black car. I would love to see what I can do on a higher class vehicle with a better quality paint job.

Another thing I noticed on SUVs. All the newer ones have totally eliminated that back panel where the third window usually goes. It's almost all glass now instead of paint. Probably because having paint on a high visibility area like that is to hard for most people to take care of and it ends up with to many swirls...

I'm talking about this spot, on newer SUVs it's all glass no paint

Beautiful job! What products did you use?
I used the jescar finishing polish on a couple panels then I did the whole car with menzerna 3800. Wiped it down with n914 are 8/1. Then I used black label surface cleansing polish and 2 coats of synergy. After that cured I wiped it down with n914 at 128/1 and buffed it quick with microfiber bonnets. Then I topped it off with 1 coat of midnight sun carnuba.

The only thing I'm wondering technique wise is, Would be better to buff the synergy off with a bonnet right away before letting it cure?
