The Art of Detailing by Mike Phillips

Feed back pleasei got it but can save it says i need "owner password" suggestions? also how would i save it to me iPhone?

Feed back please I can't send it to my Kindle because it's password protected. Any thoughts?

i tried that but I still can't save it any other suggestions? for what its worth have a mac

I have a PC. I saved the document when I downloaded it rather than opening it at that time. When I open the pdf doc, it asks for the password. Maybe you can go back and download it again and save it instead of opening it.

I wasnt so sure about the e-book concept.

So I downloaded the sample and I like it! Consider it bought. :xyxthumbs:

K this is very simple.

1. Open iTunes and click on the "File" menu
2. Select "Add to library", a window will open for you to use to locate the pdf file that you saved on your computer. Select it. (The PDF will be added to your "Books" library.)
3. Connect your iPhone/iPad to your computer and select it.
4. Click on the "Books" tab and select sync books, and check the box by "Art of Detailing".
5. Click the "Sync" button and allow device to sync.
6. Once done syncing, open "iBooks", there are 3 buttons at the top, select the middle button "Books". This will slide open a window for you to use to select between Books or PDFs. Select "PDFs".
7. Select the Art of Detailing that is displayed, it will open and just simply enter your email address for the password and you are done!

For you Android users,

What you need to do is:

1. Connect your phone to PC and select Disk Drive.
2. Open the disk drive and copy the PDF file into the desired location on your SD card.
3. Disconnect the phone from the PC and wait for the SD card to be read.
4. Once done, go to the main menu and open Adobe Reader.
5. You should be able to see the list of all PDF files on your phone.

If you do not have Adobe Reader installed, you can always go to the Android Market and download it for free.

Yancy, Thanks for posting the install for the IPhone, it works great. I will try it on the wifes Kindle, she will be surprised to see it on there.

Just one question, will both of those devices have to have INTERNET connection while reading the pdf after it is loaded?

The internet connection is only needed when you click reference links. The book will work without internet so if you are in an area that doesn't have service no worries.

What I meant to say in my original post was that I can send the original PDF file to my Kindle via WiFi (I'm sure I could do it via the USB port as well) and I can enter the password and open the PDF file just fine. However, the native PDF pages are shrunk by almost 60% to the width of the Kindle screen (about 3.5"). This makes a magnifying glass a necessity for these old eyes to read the native PDF pages. Essentially this, for me, makes the ebook useless on a Kindle and not being able to read it on my Kindle will make it inconvenient for me to use.

Don't get me wrong. I will read it on my PC as I can find the time to sit in front of it and I will greatly appreciate the knowledge that Mike is passing on to everyone. It just won't be as convenient as being able to read it wherever I can when I have a spare moment like I would be able to with the Kindle or a paper copy.

Kindle does have the ability to convert PDF documents to Kindle files giving you the ability to adjust the size of the fonts. Unfortunately, with the document being password protected, the Kindle convertor app can't open the PDF file to convert it to a Kindle file before sending it to the Kindle device. To my knowledge, there is no app that I can load on my PC to convert the file before sending it to my Kindle. The PDF file must be emailed to the device through the Amazon Kindle convertor service.

With all that being said, I am still very glad that the ebook was made available to us.:applause::applause:

We try to make it available on all devices, and I know it works better on some then others. Goes back to the old question "Why can't everything be the same?" I am glad that you enjoy the book and as technology increases I am sure that I will find a way to make it the best experience on any device. Thanks for the feedback, really helps me when I develop projects.

I was reading some of it last night on my iPad! Thanks much for all of the great information!

Check out the picture on page 86 - you can see me right behind the guy in the orange shirt and apron. :D:righton:

I just bought the e-book yesterday and just finished reading it. Very informative, especially to a beginner like myself. I'm sure I'll read it many more times too.

I HIGHLY recommend this book to EVERYONE!!!! There is an abundance of priceless information. This is nice to have on hand and reference when detailing.
