The eagle has landed ..

Congrats!

She's a beauty Clark.

Please post a review of the rotary. I'm kicking around getting one because my back just isn't what it used to be. I'm hoping a lighter model might make a difference.

Congratulations!! I'm so happy for you :)

You'll love the PE. I'm correcting a car at the moment with it and it's very very smooth. I'm amazed every time I used it. It never gets old.

Thank you all.

Received the B/plates today and had time to try the rotary for the first time. i was veeeeery exited before I started, but even more after 1/2 hour of work Im the MAN

Used:
M205
LC white flat 5.5"
Speed: 600 to 1100 Rpm's max

Only tested the trunk of wife's car.

The single word to express my first experience with rotary would be ->>> A.M.A.Z.I.N.G <<<<

Extremely QUIET, no vibration, .. and big, big smile on my face.

The trunk was already in good shape, but more interestingly, no holograms, marring or any other beasts after I was done. The finish looked just perfect (inspected under the strong Sun afterwards).

And yes, even with this 'mild' combo I could see the rotary is having much more cutting ability then a DA.

I was very cautious with heat generated on the surface .. however not much difference comparing to 3401.

Herewith a few pic for you guys:

Nice man. Glad to see you're enjoying it. Just careful, especially on the heat statement, once you really start correcting with it, with a decent amount of pressure, even at lower speeds below 1500 you'll see that it does in fact head up panels ALOT more than the DA Flex, but it does correct alot faster so it's justified. It's a rotary after all. Keep practicing and having fun, you're right that it corrects nicely. I often use some compound on a polishing pad to yield great results that I can never achieve with a DA.

I'm not sure I understand everybody's comments about it being QUIET. It's not THAT quiet. It's not loud either, but I can clearly hear that the machine is running. Maybe it's quiet compared to other rotaries?

I agree Mark. When I say it's quiet, I'm comparing it to my PC 7424 and Makita 9227c.

Any DA (including 3401) is at least double in noise level comparing to the PE14 IMO.

The main difference is that every DA has grinding type of noise, (like any grinder), whilst this rotary produces uniformed sound and is not as annoying as DA's.

I always wear ear plugs with any DA. It may sound funny, but if I don't - I get a lot of ringing/hissing in my ears for hours.

I don't think I'll be using ear plugs with the PE14.

you try out some wool pads yet?

Not that brave as yet, still on white pads, 1200rpm and M205. Trying to get a good feel for the machine before stepping up to orange/1500rpm and M105 hopefully this afternoon. I also found that taping is very beneficial (blue 3M) and not time consuming as I thought.

Having said the above, I felt very confident with PE14 from moment one .. probably because of lot of reading/watching videos, and extensive past experience with a DA.

congrats man. you dont know how proud I am right now. Seriously, I love reading stories like this. Keep us updated with your progress. I was in your shoes not too long ago and now I use a rotary most of the time.

Orange pad, 105 and 1500 rpm will sure nuff do some correcting. Congrats on the new PE. You are going to love it. The 3401 is a great machine but PE is amazing IMO.

Thanks guys, also very keen to try the foamed wool pad asap .. it's on its way.
