What about the garage? I would like your advice on the working area.

What is the best lightening? Fluorescent light seems to most used but is it the best "bang for buck"?

What do you use to store your product? Does a mechanic tool box have any use? Which material for cabinets?

Are ceiling fans and dehumidifiers useful?

Should the floor stay bare on the cement?

How did you placed/arranged your garage for efficiency?

Here is my set up.

I have no clue why photo bucket does that to me! They look good when I check?

Hey great idea for the top ones think I might try to angle them.

Which color of fluorescent is best? White/cold, white/blue, 3000K, ...

I like daybrights myself. I have 18 bulbs total in my garage, looks like a NASA landing strip at night with door open. LOL but not overly bright to work in. I have sodium halide spot tripods for corection work. I use one at a time with rest of garage as dark as I can get it. Polishing in the dark with a spotlight on works the best for me until I roll the car out into full sun for inspection. I hope to replace them all with LEDs in the near future.

+1 on the daylight bulbs.

I have two ceiling fans and also a dehumidifier. With moisture being a large problem in my garage, I don't want mold on mildew attempting to grow. I have to much invested in my garage.

The NEW Photobucket sucks IMO... they need to burn it with fire lol

Are dehumidifiers useful?

IMO yes... I used mine a lot until I installed an AC/Heat mini split system. Now I'm climate controlled 24/7. I have six double 8' florescent fixtures that are very bright when I have both banks lit.

How do you like the mini split system? I was thinking of getting one for mine. Does it kill your electrical bill?

Not at all... my 18,000 BTU unit only draws 8 amps of power and is whisper quiet. My system is a few years old and rated at 10 SEER. The newer units are rated 13 + SEER for even lower power consumption. They are remote controlled so you can change the temps or air direction/speed from anywhere in the garage/room. My garage is 24' wide and I can feel the air blowing from the opposite wall.

wow you guys have very nice looking garages. Giving me lots of ideas when it comes summer to re-organize my garage.

I find it hard to believe that so many of you have such dark garage floors. Having a really light colored reflective floor would conserve light much more and make it easier to see using less electricity, especially down low. I'm thinking of getting a tan, beige, or cream colored epoxy floor coating, perhaps with a clear top coat.
