The Loss of my Lhaso Apso named Harley.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Such a sad ordeal to go through

You'll always have Harley in your heart and thoughts... sorry for your loss.

Very sorry for your loss, Andrew. I went through the same 3 months ago and knowing it had to be done and it was the right thing to do is little solace.

My little guy was only with me for 11 months. He was 14 and had health issues when I got him, nobody wanted him and he was on his way to a kill-shelter. I knew he'd break my heart sooner rather than later, still, it turned out to be one of the best things I may have ever done. He was a delight and when the time came it wasn't any easier because we hadn't spent a longer time together.

I figured it'd be a good long time before I got another dog, going through the grieving is a painful process that will only fade with time and the sorrow is replaced with the fondest of memories. Without looking for another dog one blindsided me out of left field, another one nobody wanted for no reason I can fathom. Nothing can replace the loss of a pet but nothing I know can replace the grief better than knowing you've rescued an animal who's only crime is needing a loving home. There are so many... Snipes needs another buddy.

Sorry for your loss. I've been dealing with my dog and her health issues over the past several weeks. After several visits to the vet and a whole lot of money we still don't know exactly what the problem is.

It's amazing how attached you become, sometimes you don't realize it until they are gone. They become part of the family

I am sorry to hear that, and thank you for your condolences. I am thinking about looking into another dog for my good old snipes, but right now I am aching too much.

Thanks everyone!

RIP to Harley. I am so sorry for your loss, but your dog left this world in peace, playing joyfully and surrounded by a family that loved him.

I'm so sorry to hear about Harley. I have three, two of which are seniors. I know their times will be coming soon and I don't know what I'll do.

Saying a prayer for you.

Jenn

Sorry to hear of your loss. Dogs can be as much a part of you as a family member; in my case BETTER than some of my family members. Loyalty and devotion without question or condition is what bonds them to most of us, traits that a lot of people lack. I hope that time will turn your sorrow into fond memories.

I'm very sorry to hear that. :( My pit is 15 years old, and I dread the day she passes on. I'm not sure how I'm gonna handle it? I feel for you, bud. Hang in there.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Reading this thread is extremely emotional to me and I'm sure everyone else too. Throughout my life I've had dogs in my life.

When I was younger my family of then (five, now six) had two Boxers, Snickers and Jordan who we had to give away to a nice farm family as I remember, because our two boxers would droll over our then youngest new born brother (they thought he wasn't supposed to be there; defending us they thought). I can remember looking out the family room window as both Jordan and Snickers jumped up in the families minivan for a ride in which they would never come back home :(, but to a new home.

We didn't have another dog in the house until a year later when we got our current Australian Shepherd, Nando and few months later our Collie, Kassy and a few years later my older brothers Australian Shepherd, Bailey. Nando has Epilepsy and is on medication twice a day for the rest of his life to prevent them; he still has a rare once in a while event and each one emotional shocks me. Nando is for sure the smartest dog we've ever had - simple head nod from me he knows to follow, finger point at ground knows to sit, so on. I will cry uncontrollably cry the day he passes away .

I send my best wishes to you on these hard days you’re having. Words don’t offer complete comfort, but know the Autogeek Forum members are here for you in your time of sorrow.

Best wishes,
Chris

I am so sorry to hear about your loss of Harley. I try not to project but I often think of the day I part with my girl "Jack". Each minute I spend projecting is a minute that I could be playing with her. She's 15 years old and behaves like a 2 year old most of the time. Each pay day I go to WallyWorld and get her "Better than Ears Plus" hip and joint she gets one in the morning and one after I come home from work. They keep her joints in better shape than when she doesn't get them.

Sorry for the loss Andrew, Dave

sorry to hear about your loss man, im a dog lover myself. last year i had to put down my first dog due to tumors she had developed, it was a really sad day, on a lighter note the nurse who helped put her to rest made a custom clay memory piece with her paw print embedded into the clay, was a very thoughtful thing to do. day later i got another dog because i couldn't deal with not having a dog...weird thing is my current dog acts just like my old dog did...crazy how things work. it will get better. have a good one(or try to anyways)

ps to all dog owners who's dogs have bad joints get some glucosomine chondroiton from the health food store it works wonders on them after its in the dogs system a little while.

Really sorry for your lose Andrew. I got the chance to meet Harley couple weeks ago, and he seemed to be a very nice dog. I love my two dogs and I can't imagine the pain your going through now.
R.I.P. Harley.

Sorry for your loss. Its especially rough when you think everything is good and you find out otherwise. My last dog was a wolf hybrid puppy that died at 6 months old. Haven't been able to bring myself to get another since.

Thank you all once again for your kind words. My buddy snipes and I are coping together trying to make the best of a bad situation.

Gary, you did happen to meet him, and one of the only ones on this forum that did.
