The Most OCD Thing You Do To Your Car

If I get home at night and the front bumper is plastered with bugs I will take a bucket of soapy water outside and get them off. I can't sleep knowing the bug guts could potentially etch the paint.

I go for a walk every day at lunch time... Just to check for bird bombs. I REALLY hate bird bombs... :D

It's amazing how birds will miss every beat up car in the lot, and nail your car like it's their job.

I'm always cleaning my wheels. That's my OCD.

I keep a separate pair of driving shoes in the car and they are the only shoes worn when I am in the car. Those soles have never touched anything but but the carpet floor mats in the car. I also have a pair of unisex slippers for a passenger to wear. I keep the outside shoes in a really large zippck bag. One for each shoe. I put my foot with the ouside shoe into the bag and then I remove the outside shoe while it is in the bag. Than I just slip my shoeless foot out of the bag, seal it and slip on the driving shoe. I than repeat the proceedure for the other shoe. Always right foot first than the left foot. it must be the opposite for the passenger left foot first. I find that the zipock bags work great in keeping the contamination from the ouside shoes out of the car and they also contain the foot odor that might be present in those outside shoes. I also always wipe the door jams with a mf towel and QD.

I kick off my feet/shoes & have any passengers do the same.

Stu,

You absolutely should be classified with OCD.:wow:

I thought I was bad about getting the bird bombs the second they hit the car, and dusting it every day and QD' ing it every other day. Now I feel normal. lol

Wipe down with PB's spray and wash every evening to get the dust and bugs off the cars.

:iagree:
Jump on cleaning bird, bug, and sap daily.
BUT, I never considered it OCD, lol :D

This is healthy! I recommend within 1 hour of reaching a destination make sure those bugs are gone.

Don't park under trees!

I have a bottle of QD at work for the morning that I take it to work... Usually a few times every other week

I have been wanting to do something similar. Wrapped my shoes in paper towels for the drive a couple times... I am going to buy some of those Painter footies to go over my shoes and I think this is the best idea. Can't ask my passengers to do this though. I must remain aware that this behavior is not normal:)

I wipe down my wheelwells on my truck everyday and touch up the tires every other day.

If a passenger slams the door I will get out of the truck and re open it and gently close it.

Lol...Mario Andretti meets Mr. Rogers

I tend to go crazy on my rims. Once i start noticing that there is brake dust on them i have to bust out the cleaner and the polish cause black dust on chrome is no good

This takes the cake right here.

I wash and hand wax my Lincoln 2 times a week. My girlfriend printed out papers for me and almost forced me into an OCD and anxiety session. I cannot and will not study for an exam unless my apartment AND car are spotless. My relationship with her almost ended because of this... so now I have to go behind her back to wash my car.

oh and leather seats are conditioned once a week with either poorboys leather stuff or zaino leather in a bottle and interior is throughly cleaned once a week in addition.

Ok, this is seriously affecting your life. I don't want to offend but you may consider taking back control of it. Once you let an obsession control you rather then you controlling it you have to reverse course. Otherwise it may destroy your long term happiness. Of course, I guess that depends on the girlfriend and the exam! Good Luck!

I have been getting better. Sometimes.... as her family says.... "Just let it go sometimes," and that is what I have been doing. Even though its ideal for me to wash and wax two times... I have been cutting it down one time lately. After all... its a chunk of metal. But yea... I care about my GF a lot more than this so thats why I have been doing the best I can!

Just a thought for you guys with the "shoe issue"...
In my vehicles, I keep custom fit rubber mats over the carpet mats, that way my carpet doesn't get stained, and when I am showing, etc., I just take the rubber out.

There are usually a few pebbles to vacuum, but nothing major.

My most OCD days are past. I have learned that it is ok to let some things slide. I do however have to remove the bird bombs instantly, and I always clean the wheels on my truck before driving it (they are chrome, and brake dust doesn't help them to shine). The good news for me though, is I only drive that truck once a week maybe.

I have two welcome mats on the garage floor by each front door. You would be surprised on how much dust dirt they keep out of my car.

I fashion myself as being more of a Felix Unger type OCD'ER rather than a Mr.Rogers type. For one I would never wear that type of sweater in my car as it sheds lint, and more importantly Mr. Rogers spent to much time around children and we all know how messy children are. They will touch anything without any inhibition what so ever and in doing so they become a prime source in transmitting disease. That is why I now require all passengers who have children to first use an instant hand sanitizer before entering my car. I always have an assortment of towelettes in my car (I like the towelettes no risk of spillage).

the most OCD thing i do to my car is 1. compliment it and 2. stare at it alot while i'm walking to or away from it.
