The most over-rated products?

I think the term "overrated" is being convoluted here. A product would have to have a serious amount of hype and good reviews to be deemed "overrated". For the most part, Pinnacle, XMT, and other brands mentioned aren't overly reviewed as great products, as least not that I've seen. I hardly see those brands mentioned in other forums either.

I also agree with whomever said that you can't simply give an "overrated" or not good review to something when/if you just aren't using it correctly. For example, ONR, and 205. Both are great products I use on almost every detail. 205, at least, I can understand someone not liking it, I didn't like it either when it came out, until I learned how to properly use it, of course. ONR is the same deal. Some people just want something for nothing it seems.

And on the topic of waxes, I wouldn't spend a crazy amount of money on a wax or sealant. You're not going to buy anything where you won't have to reapply it again in the future. I've yet to see a MAJOR difference between a $100+ wax, and a $25 wax. There's more of a difference for sealants, but still, it's not worth it to spend all that money on an LSP when it'll get reapplied almost monthly at worst. Just my 2 cents.

adams detail spray, yeah its nice, smells good, but a lot of the "adams fanboys" think its god sent. also expensive. surprise.

:iagree:

I have several different detail sprays including, adams, and besides the smell and price difference I really don't see the difference.

I agree as well. I switched to Griot's Speed Shine and it almost feels like a wax going on the car.

ONR............Ultima Waterless Wash Plus+ Concentrate much better as a rinse less, water less, clay lube,etc......

I used Sonax wheel cleaner last week on some not so dirty wheels and it did not impress me at all. Very disappointing.

So, I looked through this thread and didn't see Chemical Guys mentioned as over rated unless I missed it. Does that mean that all the hype about GC is real? just wondering. My order of BL,V7, and 5050 just arrived.

Sonax is especially good for the brake dust. It has always worked very well for me (but then, I always clean my wheels weekly or every other week) and I own German cars (you know what that means...).
You cannot compare (I am not saying it is your case) it with something like Meguiar's Wheel Brightner for instance: Sonax is pH neutral, safe and has no strong chemicals.
It seems the price is high in the US: you should experience our European prices, he, he, he...
Just my 2 cents.

The brand is too new at AG so people havent had the time yet. I tried quite a few of their like years back and most was average at best. However the 3 products you ordered are good, so no worries. :xyxthumbs:

5050 sucks, you should just send it to me without ever opening it.

Ive been wanting to try sonaxfe but havent because of some of the reviews I have seen and I honestly never use a wheel cleaner, I just use my wash mitt and wash the wheels like the paint. I would have to say that so far the one product I havent been pleased with was CG 721, it seemed to be hard to get off and dusted quite a few. It didnt really have the cut I expected either,I prefer D300 or UC.

I'll throw my two cents in and say 845 for my taste. Even on a properly prepped car it doesn't seem to last as long as others are getting out of it. The look is just OK on my black cars as well, so maybe the color of car matters on that. 915 on the other hand I really, really like, both for looks and durability.

In fact, I'm trying to convince myself that my Fuzion looks significantly better to justify the extra cost...probably goes down to proper prep and personal taste I guess but the ol' marque d'elegance seems to look very similar and last a lot, lot longer.

Cg products are always atleast good IMO, sometimes overhyped but they still deliver, sonax on the other hand I could've bought green goo for half the price as delivered the same results, did nothing, mothers wheel and tire performed incredible

I'll race you ;) if the gt500 is yours

I think gold class is over rated, it's decent at best some of my other shampoos blow it away

The purple cg qd and clay lube ( one product ) isn't really over rated as I never hear about it but as a clay lube performed very poorly and I could not beat the streaking

Adams apc.. Not concentrated.. Just an apc.. Only good part about it is that it's green lol

Thing about cg is that their stuff just works. Most of their stuff doesn't blow me away but they get the job done and easy. Not to mention their prices for the most part are great. ( their website is cheaper) shhhhh....
