The oil DISASTER!!!!

Its just soooo bad. I think they are finally closing it now.... Cross fingers. All we can do is pray for a miracle that somehow that oil doesn't all come ashore and they can somehow capture and clean it up out in the ocean. Oh, and that the current doesn't catch it... and that the hurricanes don't go through the gulf this year.... Uh, guess I'm asking for a lot.

It's disgusting! I don't even know the words. But I'll tell you one thing. Over a month this this is constantly pumping tens of thousands of barrels a day into the water and it hasn't been stopped. Something is extremely suspect here...

You said it.

LMAO

Interesting

Must step away from keyboard... Uh oh, couldn't do it...
You answered your own question. If the president had any executive experience and was a leader instead of a salesman.... on day one he would have called a few of his 38 czars that he created together and had them on the phones with Exxon, Shell, and all the other major players. He should have gotten a team together and sat them down with BP and done the one thing he is good at. Talk, "It takes a tribe" right mr. president? That would have been day one. On each of the 38 (and counting) days since then he could have had his people organizing companies to coordinate and move all the equipment and build the cleanup materials needed. Since the leak would have been stopped within about a week (or two tops) if there had been a request for help from (and an incentive for) all the best minds in the oil industry the administration could have spent the next 21-28 days supervising and coordinating the cleanup of the spill.

Instead all we have seen is cya, cya, cya, blame, blame, blame. "It's BP's responsibility". Duh, I think every human on the continent is aware of that. Please stop insulting our intelligence and wasting your own time with the bs mr. president. Actually DO something... Effort through action is all I ask for.... Please?
absolutely totally agree! was trying to keep some personal views to myself because we all know what kind of thread this will turn into then. 100% agree with you cee!

Thank you for reminding me. I think I should add a couple words so people don't misunderstand my opinion. I fully and completely respect opinions of all others including those that completely disagree with me. :)

I think everyone is forgetting that this is 5000' below the surface. Its not like someone can just swim down there and put a plug in the hole.

Sure it sucks but there is nothing our pres could have done to stop it any faster then whats being done now. BP has been trying from day one to get this stopped, it takes time to come up with a plan and implement it. Lets just all hope that the top kill works and holds until the relief wells are drilled.

maybe... we all need to share some guilt...
think about it the next time you fill your tank...
supply/demand/greed... we "all" have encouraged/empowered them...

Maybe you're right but personally I just don't feel that way in my gut. Now if the people you vote for win then I suppose their is some guilt associated but even then would the other options you had to vote for be any less crooked? Usually not. Once in awhile yes but unfortunately the less crooked the nominee the worse liar he is and people usually vote for the better liar. Then again if people would do a little research they may find a history of what a nominee is about and may make a better choice. True journalism no longer exists for the most part and they usually impede instead of help the peoples ability to make an educated choice. I still don't think you should have guilt even if the man you voted for screws it up. Unless of course he told you up front "Hey, I'm not going to do anything about oil spills or stopping the bribery between the regulators and big oil."

What you can do is stop filling up at BP stations. When they built that well they should have built it with a liner. Any engineer that has seen the plans would tell you they wouldn't go for the way it was done in such deep waters.
BP had a choice to make:
A.-Do exactly what they did and skip the liner and valve.
B.-Spend a few million and another week of time on the sealer liner.
C.-Spend 500,000 on a valve.

They made their choice and unless we're going to go start soaking up oil with our rubber rafts and some select MF towels the best thing we can do is stop using their gas untill this thing is cleaned up. Not that it will make a huge difference as they have their hand in many other products... And you can bet most other oil companys out there skip the same precautions to save a buck.

Yeah... About that... It's not going to save a buck this time BP

missed my point...
being 55yrs old... you can look at elected officials from numerous administrations, both here and world-wide...

regulations/regulators have been around, and left unregulated because of supply/demand/greed...

wikipedia says there are 40,000 working oil fields around the world... not wells, but, fields of wells...

finding blame is reactionary, to a problem that many in official offices have know for years...

Brazil... has quietly been a leader to be oil-free... and by law, will soon be oil-free... ( we also... grow sugarcane... )

like all wells... sooner or later, they all run dry...

I am not a tree-hugger... just a human, on this fragile earth...

Oh please guys...our commander in chief is doing all he can, can't you tell?

hanging out with Jay Z, vacations, playing basketball. How could he possibly have time for such small problems.
:iagree:

The guy is a FOOL, IMO.

Amen! I think this is another wake up call for us to find another way to get around

I agree. The entire US is jumping up and down to "Stop it" but which of us has the answer? Do you? I damn sure don't, nor do the rest of you. It's easy to throw a tantrum yet offer no solution to the problem. Gripe and moan but with no solution and you are wasting your wind.
This is the very first time this has ever happened, it's not like BP has a bookfull of answers for this disaster. Cut them some slack, they want this shut down much more than you & I do. It is costing them out the wahzoo, not to mention the cleanup. SHEESH! Some realistic thought is required here folks!

If the EPA didn't force us to drill that far off shore we wouldn't be talking about this. One other thing NEWS FLASH: Our fearless leader two months ago tried to put major cuts on the NATIONAL GUARD'S OIL RECOVERY AND DISASTER TEAM. Sounds a little strange don't you think?

Our demand for oil is forcing oil companies to search for oil anywhere they can find it and at the their lowest cost to maximize their profits. Nothing wrong with that except for when accidents happen.

It was BP's rep that made the call to pump the drilling mud that helps keep the pressure down out of the pipe before the third plug was in place to, most likely causing the first two plugs to fail shooting the methane gas up the pipe that destroyed the deepwater horizon.

Read towards the bottom.

I'm saying if we were allowed to drill closer to shore or on land this wouldn't be as bad as it is. EPA forces us or other oil co. to drill deep into the ocean. This well is 5.000 ft. down. That's what's making it so hard to cap

Thats very interesting. Good point on the EPA.
Can you PM me a source on the National guard cuts?

I know all of us have some 'kind' of responsibility as to supply and demand but on the same hand it doesnt give a company the right to put greed and money before the wealthfare of our planet! I mean they had enough money to take the precautions but didnt! They knew something was wrong with that well 15 hrs prior to the explosion, could have shut it down but nope... And for those who say lay off they are doing the best they can and that say they dont have answers to solve it.... then why drill if you do not have the proper protocol to follow if a disaster happens yea i don't know the first thing about drilling or the logistics but if your drilling 5000ft below sea level shouldnt you know what COULD happen???? It sickens me to no end when people say they are doing the best they can when in retrospect it looks like they aren't. All that is being done is that the pres is watching BP fudge it all up! Why does he say its their responsiblity then claims he takes on all responsibility for this neglect? If the pres says he responsible then step in and take over or let someone else who can handle it and not just look at a camera and talk with all that hot air.Let someone who is more QUALIFIED handle it and go play more basketball (ugly jumper btw)

(ugly jumper btw)

lol, I saw that too. he made the second shot. I wonder how long they had to reshoot the scene before he made it. LOL, allright, allright, that was cheap and probably not true. I apologize. I was just kidding and I'm done.... again my apologies.
