The Red Rocket is dead ... Long Live Vader Jr.

Of course it is, that's what makes it FUN :righton:

I visited Ohio in the dead of winter for 9 years in a row, Columbus to be exact.

I loved the area by the way, great people.

Update us and let us know if you still feel that way in about 3 months after winter with all the nasty road salt and dirt and grime etc all over it basically every day.

Heck I live in the rain capital of the country, their are three white cars parked in my driveway for a reason. Summer down here is like winter up north from the point of you can't keep a vehicle clean as it rains everyday and the road dirt gets all over your vehicle.

My GC only goes out on nice days and it get dusty just sitting in the garage.

Nah...been there, done that and that was waaaaay before I knew what the hell I was doing. My car now is black but it's metallic black, much more forgiving and still looks great when clean!

This thread and the V6 comments has also reminded me that the new 3.6L V6 in the 16' Camaro makes 355 HP!

So your wife chooses what you drive and you can even mod it if she "lets" you? Sorry mate.

Love the quote, btw. “A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do.” - Bob Dylan

That's only 30 hp more than mine, easily made up for in mods (as soon as detailing season starts and I can start earning my 'mad money').

You could also say: "A man who gets up in the morning didn't tick his wife off the day before."

You'll need something a little stronger, something that gives you lot's of energy. I'm speaking from experience. My ride today. I purchased it in 4/12. 1/16 8800 miles. Garage queen extraordinaire.

And it's got dust all over it.

Keep in mind, in three + years this cars been rained on three times and only been "traditionally washed" once.

Bob Dylan was and is a punk, never cared much for him any way.

LOL........

Don't know much about the man except for his music. Still a helluva saying. The whole happy wife, happy life thing is not something I subscribe to. Not if they try to sell the whole "we're in this together" or "us" thing, only to turn around and run your life. No thanks.

Not sure if there's a tune for that engine so getting 30 hp out of a NA V6 is going to be tough unless your going to change the can and heads which I'm sure your not. A cat-back and intake aren't going to net you half that but will add some sound to it. Speaking of exhaust, I hope you do your homework because I've heard some that try too hard and they're horrible. I would go for performance over sound for sure. I'm sure K&N makes a great intake for it, the Typhoon. I've had 2 of them on previous cars and fit and materials are 1st rate.

There's always forced induction :dblthumb2:

And I am going for stealth rather than loud/flashy. The intake is first on my list, next to a PCV catch can. I read up on direct injection engines ... all the crud from the PCV system ends up in the intake & coating the backs of the valves & there's no fuel flow to clean off the valves. So you have to 'catch' it before it gets inside the intake tract.

Don I'm a little late here, but:

1. Glad you are ok, and

2. Nice! Congrats on the new ride! It's a beaut!

•Would installing a "catch can" actually help?

First off:
•How does the PVC system work?
-Doesn't it work when under vacuum?

•When don't you have vacuum?
-I'd say it's @ WOT.

•When do you most want to not have
oil in the intake air?
-@ WOT.

So:
•Will a "catch can" actually help?
-Probably not much...if it requires vacuum.

Don, forced induction would be nice but expensive! Keep us posted and which intake are you getting?

A big fan of stealth, which is why I went with a limited model instead of the huge spoiler for my vehicle. Some run better with stock airbox & quality filter elements over intake kits. If you have a friend who has an intake, take a ride in it or better yet; ask to take it out for a quick spin. The cabin noise could get old real fast, not to mention killing the stealth mode you are going for. Worse still, it could screw up with the pwr/trq curve. If the extra few horses gained are on top but sacrifice mid & low then there goes the fun. I'd rather have a point & shoot/block to block punchy power band than a highway runner.

What I'm going to do is run a K&N drop in filter in the stock air box, then run a 3" tube from the air box to behind the grill so I get a cold air/ram air effect (I had one on the Suzuki and you could feel the difference on the highway). That system on the Suzuki also increased my MPG by a few points too.

Sounds like a plan! :props:

Had an APC intake on my Subaru. It ran nice on the hwy, and I did see a slight increase in mileage. However, my egt spiked... It was running lean. No wonder I got a "better" mpg.

Tuning is fun, but it's a slippery slope. Before you know it, large injectors & E85 and all the supporting mods...

In the 3.6, the PCV line connects to the valve cover and the line runs to the center of the intake manifold, where I believe there is always a vacuum. The catch can is spliced into the line, where the output line from the valve cover goes in one side and through a chamber filled with wire mesh (think steel wool) where the the oil vapor (and in the colder months water vapor too) condense and go to the bottom of the can. The "cleaned" air then goes out of the can through a separate line and into the intake manifold.

Here is a pic of what the average catch can gets on a 3.6 Camaro engine:
