Looks great! Alot more satisfaction seeing your vehicle now isn't it? How did you like using the HT pads?

Well, since we have never done this before, we don't have much to compare it to. We weren't thrilled with the tangerine pads. Two of them collapsed in the middle and became concave. They are still indented even after washing and conditioning them.

Great job!!! It's nice to sit back and admire it isn't it? AS for your pads, sometimes the inside will collapse with too much pressure. Is the area basically the same size as the backing plate?

Great job on the detail and im glad you enjoyed it! Little tip for next time, Use some dressing/tire shine in the wheel wells it will help the look!

I have really enjoyed the transformation of the "Maxima Mom and Dad" from 1st time posters to a couple who found time to tackle detailing a car.

Here is a question and I don't remember if either of you mentioned it, but how did you find out about Autogeek, and what made the both of you decide to learn all about keeping your cars detailed? I find it fascinating that you are on this quest now.

It is certainly a very interesting and rewarding way to spend quality time together.

Thanks for the posts,
Don

I think that beige wool pad on your lap in picture #2 might be a little big for your Griots!

Great job Maxima Mom/Dad, glad to see that you have made it through your first detail. Your namesake car looks great! Now you can start spreading the word about AG in your neighborhood when everyone asks how you keep car so clean!

As far as your pads, it may have been too much product as Mike P suggested. That can really help transfer the heat from the machine to the backing plate right to the center of the pad. That may have helped contribute to the pad center collapsing.

Nice work MM and MD! But it does look like Maxima Mom is doing all the work! :):poke:

Don we do a lot together, we found AG when looking for a car for our daughter...
we went to see a BMW at a detailer's shop and he mentioned, "claying the paint"...from there Lisa went on line to research clay bars and here we are!....as they say the rest is history....

yup the one area we neglected....definitely on the list when we wash next time....:props:

Evan,
That is fantastic. I found Autogeek when I was looking for ways to keep my 2003 Mustang Cobra in good shape. I do my best. I have more supplies then a mini Autogeek would have. LOL.

Does your daughter help too? Now that would be cool.

I look forward to more adventures of your family and detailing.

We have 2 more "wool pads" one for the 3" Griots, and a 5.5" one as well LOL!

Did you end up getting a Bimmer for her? I am always looking for fellow Bimmers on the forum.

Thinking about adding a second one to our family of vehicles. Will keep it under wrap until it's official.

Your critters are priceless. The picture of the one in your lap, while you are in a position I could never acquire much less get up from, is also priceless.

Even more priceless is following your progress from initial posts to now. For both of you......WELL DONE! You have my total admiration for desire, research, and, last but not least, an enviable accomplishment.
Oh, the car looks like a million bucks. Fine work and I know you are proud of what you have done with your own hands, as is everyone on this forum.

I applaud you both.:applause::applause::applause::applause:
