The video Gyeon didn’t want you to see

Obsidian Detailing has a very in depth channel more for professionals but he recently stated he was going to start product reviews and what he uses . You might want to keep an eye out for that - i check every now and again but nothing yet. He's funny too. Detailing yoda was funny too but he's not that active anymore. A few really good videos.

Chromatic like Paul A. said his good too. I just couldn't get into the similar white details.

I've totally moved away from anyone selling products. It is apparent with some videos. I stick to guys I enjoy watching work...White Details (UK), Chromatic north of Toronto and Larry Kosillo. Yes, the last one sells product but i don't watch him for that.

Back on topic, i also like Jason and CAP because he doesn't push sales. Again, i thought that was a fair assessment of Gyeon's new stuff.

All good choices for entertainment and picking up a tip or two

I will go way out on a limb here; I enjoy Larry Kosillo and I even have a whole different vibe with him regarding the fact he is selling his line, he seems genuine to a fault and self made

Here is the out on a limb part: I enjoy him even more when he is joined by Kevin Brown of Buffdaddy fame

I know a lot of people question his credentials and some can't decide if he is a madman or a genius but he has a lot of ideas that have worked for me

I don't drink anyone's Koolaid but I like Kevin, maybe because when I texted him once about a Rupes machine I purchased he didn't text me back, he called me back, and talked to me forever like we were old friends

I am not sure how many people would do that

And White's and Chromatic are top notch!

I am also proud of the Autogeek fam…. 60’ish posts and not one bashing Pan or Scott HD

Scott was brought up somewhere earlier but there was no bashing. As far as Pan goes, your the first to bring him up...(let me slip on my flame retardant suit on)...ok, now that I'm safe I'll say I like Pan, met him at the Chicago Auto Show back in 2019, Bryan from Apex too. Both were very personable, especially Pan but he's Canadian so that's a given I know some don't like Pan but everyone has their people they click with. I also understand some not liking those who sell their own products and in Bryan's case, he has his own products and still reviews other products as well.

While I can appreciate Pan’s educational videos, I can’t help but notice they still feel like advertisements because he always features products from brands that have paid him or from brands he wishes would work with him (Carpro).

Most of the YouTubers can take criticism or negative comments. Pan seems to have an ego the size of Jupiter. Super thin skinned and in denial about the true nature of his motivations. It gets to be obvious when he reviews products from brands that don’t pay him. I can understand why people might like him but if you read the responses he gives to criticisms, you can tell he is a jerk underneath all the showmanship. Just an opinion but I don’t get that sense from Brian or Jimbo or most of the other guys.

Pan does many non-sponsored videos and always says whether they are or aren't in the beginning of his videos

I totally understand that aspect, but if you pay attention carefully to all of his non-sponsored videos… they tend to always feature brands that have been sponsored in the past. He finds a way to bring in The Last Coat or Avalon King into his educational videos. He knows what he is doing… basically creating an incentive for brands to keep paying him. It’s honestly a smart way of making money, but he really has to drop the notion that all of his content is unbiased. It clearly is biased and oriented towards his revenue streams. I’m fine with it, just not fine with his attitude when people call him out on it.

I see what your sayin' but Bryan from Apex just had a new Mother's product and showed everyone that it doesn't even come close to doing what it's supposed to do. Fairly said about Pan w/o slamming him

I was momentarily a fan of Gyeon and reserve the right to hop back on their bandwagon, but I'm not a fan of misleading information. View attachment 75169

The attached pic is straight from their US website. I've clicked on every link on their site and typed in every google search possible and still cannot find their SDS sheets. I reached out to Gyeon asking for SDS sheets, who then told me to reach out to a US Distributor. So I googled US Gyeon Distributor, and Esoteric came up. I reached out to Esoteric, and they told me to contact Gyeon. Stuff like that leaves a terrible taste in my mouth

Not a fan of that Esoteric channel, pretty snooty IMO and our hobby isn't like that across the board

That answer from that guy is "unfortunate" to say the least

Have you heard Ivan's take on using soap to wash your car...if not check out any video he's done on RW and get back with me. I've got no use for that guy because there's times you NEED soap and water flushing everything out and that doesn't happen with a RW or WW, guys very arrogant. I'm proud that I brought up Bilt-Hamber in a number of his Mckee's videos too, just preaching truth and speaking of truth, I'll be preaching it from now on about Bilt-Hamber products

Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

Oh yeah, I've heard his remarks. I'll just say that I do a lot of "hybrid washing" this is where I'll power wash the vehicle and then use rinseless wash in olace of where I'd other wise use soap.

But for years I'd just use whatever I could find at the auto parts store for soap. It's only recently I used something like Carpro Reset and experienced a really refined, high performance car shampoo.

But tell me about this Bilt Hamber.

I would take Matt over the other two.

I just don’t vibe with WAD’s vibe.

DPC use to one i watched in the beginning but too preachy and doesn’t practice what he preached when it came down to repping products.

I’m all for selling your own products and you wanna make it boutique so be it. Just don’t build your viewership around how to do it cheaper/industry’s ripping you off and then turn around and sell $5 microfibers and overpriced rinseless washes.

At least Matt seems to know he’s Jerk’ish and owns it. He cater to a higher end (snobby?) clientele.

The one thing I appreciate about him is his brutal honesty. Still not a big fan though.

I like Mark for brutal honesty. He doesn't post much here these days, but we still communicate.

Mark?

QuickSS on youtube. He might be under that name of something about a Z06.

He doesn't do reviews or anything like that, just sometimes asks questions or comments.

I have more of a problem with a manufacturer saying "contact a distributor" than Todd saying "contact the manufacturer". I believe the maker should willingly produce, as a minimum, the dang SDS.

Although if you told the distributor that the mftr said contact them I would say, as the distributor, "i'll get it and forward it to you"!

While i like some of Gyeon's products I don't like hearing some of these business tactics.

Gyeon SDS are available from their distributors.

Just now reading through "some" of the comments here as I have ADD. Didn't watch the video until now either.

My take is this. For me I like the GYEON Products and never had a problem with them outside they didn't want to sell me Skin separately and removed the Booster Product which when used over-top of other GYEON offerings had a nice chemical reaction that provided the same super slick high contact angle that Skin provided. Thus I was left to use their old Non-EVO products standalone or buy their Syncro Kits all day which IMO put my pricing for a lot of my offerings to customers outside where I wanted them to be. That said, for the past 12 months+ I have been a big CarPro Advocate. I still am and I use several of their offerings.

NOW that great news is I'm back with GYEON as an offering and am even happier as I have alternatives and loads of options to use and offer customers. In fact, I'll be re-doing my product pricing sheets and have loads of flexibility. I may even have too many and thus some local peeps may be getting some products I have for a deal if not entirely free as I also work to clean out some inventory. Stay tuned central Ohio folks.

All the above said, I haven't had a chance to "test" durability and longevity of course, but I will trust the numbers provided by GYEON. I tend to offer no more than 3-4 year life from coatings given most vehicles will need a re-polish before that time anyway. I can say for sure that the original CanCoat had a great longevity. I often referred to it as "season long" as in 6-9 months but the Golf R I just completed had two layers of CanCoat and it was still going strong after nearly 18 months of exposure. The vehicle is garaged but I originally applied it in Nov 2020 and upon arrival this week, it was still in great shape and going a good job beading up water and protecting the car. If CanCoat EVO is better than it should have no problem battling all Ohio has to throw at it.

I find that is the hardest part to figure out....the pricing. I know how long it takes for each step of everything. The difference in prices between wax/sealant to a coating lite or full coating is more of what i mean...even difference in a 1 or 2 step paint correction as well.

I think im fair and in line with actual local businesses but sometimes i think i should charge a little more. Actual shops are crazy expensive for coatings, which is where my prices really differ.

Less overhead means better value^^^^

100% Agree. I have no real overhead and my patrons are 100% referrals. I don't even publicize my website. I do 1-2 per week and that's it. IMO most places over-charge for what they offer. I'm 200% for capitalism though but still, I know what is needed, how long things take and yeah, I suppose I could raise my prices, but then the "value" for outstanding work that I'm proud to say I can produce is what keeps my referrals coming.
