The Wet-Look .. with Detailer?

After I waxed my car .. I usually just pressure rinse it once a week ( I live in LA so after about a day or 2 you'll see lots of dust on your car) then when I dry it off with a leather rag I usually detail it a day or two later with a a Meguiar's Dtailer (see picture .. I use the burgundy one .. bout would like to know if somebody has good experience with the black one !?) I never really get the "Wet" Look that I see on some cars. Am I using the wrong Detailer or the wrong product in general ?

For 24.00 on sale use the reload,I did a corporate jet last year polished it and today I used reload from top to bottom wing to wing jet looks dripping wet.for the money and durability there is not much out there to compete with this product.
 
Have you ever clayed the car? Or compound / polish?

You need more than just wax and QD to get the look you're after.

Also, you'll need to improve your washing techniques, as it sounds like you're not using soap, right?

Refrain from the leather sham,it supposedly takes wax off.
 
@davey g-force yes I don't wash the car alot feels like its no need for it since I put in that wax work. Car has never been clayed compound or polished? Car is only about 11 months old .
@GSKR how would you dry ?

Either waffle weave towels or some good microfiber towels or the guzzler towel,make sure to rip off tag so you don't scratch paint.ag sells them.
 
It is not a good idea to simply pressure rinse and dry. Pressure rinsing will never remove ALL of the dirt, and so by drying it at that point, you are dragging all the dirt over the paint leading to swirls. These swirls are robbing you of that wet look, which comes from (predominantly) flat paint.

By that I mean paint that is free of mountains (contamination) and valleys (scratches).

IME no quick detailer or spray on wax is going to take paint that is contaminated and has below surface defects and make the paint look wet.

If I were you I would look at at least claying it, if possible correcting the paint, and if not possible, at least using a decent AIO or glaze to 'level out' the paint, then top with your protection of choice and maintain from there on out....
 
Ok @GSKR I will try a guzzler towel.. since my leather rag is falling apart anyway and they are pretty pricy.. but a microfiber towel hardly absorbs the water!

The wet look your after is going to lie more in the condition of the paint. If you have an LED flashlight, take it out and check your car at night. A decent LED will show you how good, or bad your paint is. Look for one with about 200 lumines and that should be good enough to show you your paint conditions. Chances are you are going to need a paint correction.

For the in between washes invest in a waterless kit such as the blackfire kit here at auto geek. It has the sprayer, waterless concentrate, and the proper microfiber.

Ok I just took some time to give my car a really good "home made" wash.
and @lawrenceSA I must say .. that was the the issue ! For the past 10 Carwashes I just pressure rinsed the car since it and like I said from time to time gave it a quick wax. Today all I did was wash it real good ( the wax is still on the car from the looks how the water peels of the paint)

I used some of the quick detailer on In quarter of the hood .. but to be honest there is no improvement of the look . I also used the cleaning wax on one quarter of the clean hood ... that have it a slightly more shine but not really noticeable ( not really worth 500 calories worth of rubbing I have to do ) @Nor Cal ZL1 maybe the waterless wash is an option to not go to the car wash but you might as well considering the price of the kid .

The water less wash kit works great. No trip to the car wash, no water in unwanted jambs, or trunk sills which in the Camaro collect lots of water. Cleaning and protection are done in one step. It can be carried along with you for road trip ups, car show washes. It can be done in the comfort of your garage, or hotel parking lot. You can use it for underhood cleaning, wheel cleaning, window cleaning. The concentrate esp the gallon size is very effective and cost/time efficient. The surface it leaves behind is very slick, and has a great shine. Here is my car that has not seen water wash in over 2 years, nor any wax, or other product, although it is coated.

^^ I agree. The compliments I get on our black vehicles especially in terms of them always looking "WET" are really due in part to the actual correction. I do love the BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond Polymer detail Spray and use it after every wash. Meguires products that you show were my OTC go-to prior to using Wet Diamond. I love it so much I just opted for the gallon refill too. Combined with their Crystal Seal Paint sealant I can't say I could ask for more. Both are outstanding.

Key however is to REALLY insure your paint is corrected to a perfect finish. I use a dual 500w halogen light system I've had for years. They not only warm up my work space in cold months but they really do show how even a nice car looks horrible under lights thus showing you the trouble spots in need of correction.

Nail those trouble spots and use the above products and everyone will share the same "OMG is your car wet?" experience I get and enjoy so much.

Just my opinion.
