This is for all the part time pros here.

Curiosity has me wondering, how do you answer that in a purely social situation?

Does your "main" job get the attention and networking possibilities, or does the detailing? Or, do you spit an earful out all at once: "I'm a(n) _______ (network engineer, accountant, figure model, etc.) and I detail cars."

I'm not a pro, nor a part-time pro, BUT depending on the situation I might want to network my full time job or my detailing job. (And have business cards for both)

I'm a table games dealer. If I did start a detailing business, it would be really easy to spread the word. Hmmmm

@OP:
I didn't catch what your response would be in this "social scenario"...Care to share?

Myself?
I've neither been, or ever will be: A full or part time Pro Detailer...
[but I used to play one on TV :D]

Retired now from engaging in most commercial interests.

I bet most are gonna love my job, its not so glamorous but its "cool" to most guys.

1. Im a packaging line mechanic at a major BREWERY in upstate NY, and I detail cars.
Yes, we get free beer. 2 cases a month... the sad part is I don't drink!! lol.

2. Im a pizza delivery guy 1 evening a week, and I detail cars.

Talent scout at a ##### house... jk

I work for a company that produces feedwater heaters and condensers for power plants. We do a few other applications also but that is our main focus. My exact job is laying out parts to be ran on machines. You remember that math in high school you'll never use? I USE IT!

I do Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Management for a National Supply Chain company.

Also handle all of the sustainability reporting etc.

No real chance for punting detailing at work, but I do find some overflow of work into detailing, in terms of at least being familiar with MSDS's etc.

I am a designer for an Engineering Company. I pretty much work in AutoCAD all day putting together structural plans.

I am an account manager for a large security company where i oversee approximately 40 employees and 15 buildings. I do detailing part time, mostly small jobs in the afternoons and corrections on weekends.

I throttled back on detailing as a side gig because my career has taken me to a better place financially. So usually whenever it's brought up I tell people that I'm a network engineer by day and a detail consultant by night.

I'm an IT Director for a non-profit organization thats helps people overcome alcoholism & drug addiction. I'm just a detailing enthusiast, haven't really considered doing it for a business...

Im a student, work for an IT consulting firm and do detailing on the side.
