The world through detailing colored glasses

Happens to me EVERY DAY.

Terrible local commercial but I've seen it 100 times and this is the only thing I ever pay attention to!

This tail light needs some love! I'm only glad they used white paint because I can't imagine what the rest of the car looks like! The swirls just blind me! But I know 99.9999% of my viewing area has no clue.

I would say another one for me is the awkward moment trying to explain to the employee at Lowes why I'm looking specifically for a red 5 gallon bucket because the other available colors are already dedicated to something else (HD orange = dirty towels, blue = water buckets to keep the hose from hitting the car, white = rinse, grey = wash but it looks just like the white in the shade so I go for the wrong bucket...)

So if anyone knows of a physical retailer (gotta check grit guard fitment) that sells either a red or green 5-gallon...

Lowes has red/green ones online but they were a holiday item.

They have NO saints ones here at lowes. I own a few of those. Also, pickles come in green. Go to a burger place and, after eating of course, ask the manager if they mind saving one for you.

Northern tool buckets are yellow.

The Walmart and tractor supply here sells camo buckets

My Macbook Pro screen is like a magnet for finger prints for some reason...I've thought about putting sealant on it but opted not to lol.

I thought about getting that camo one just to be funny. :)

Are you sure you didn't opt for Opti-Coat ;)
Man that was terrible lol

I got another one. My fiance was complaining about how she hates mopping because her mop water just gets dirty right away. I suggested the 2 bucket method! She bought a Swiffer wet-jet instead...

Walking to the store from the car and seeing fogged/ yellow headlights. It really bothers me!

Leaving the grocery store now and it has been raining. Mine and one other car happens to be beading. Everyone else's is frustrating me.

When a "so called car guy" is showing me how nice his car is, and all I notice is how dorked up the paint is, how dull the wheels look and how jacked up the trim and glass look....

snuck out of work early yesterday, raced home, all because it was nice out and I could finally try out my DA polisher I got for xmas! Neighbor goes "You know it's gonna rain right?" "Yup! :D"

Sounds like a large portion of the cars you see at a cruize night! It amazes me how these "pampered" rides look on a weekly basis...or should I say "weakly" basis, LOL!

Now that I have my 1st black car since 2000 I'm going to be even more critical, oh no, I've become "Mr. Hyde"!

Saw bird droppings on my car cover. Started to think about ways I could protect the cover. Realized I was trying to create a car cover for my car cover.

Watching my neighbor across the court "wash" his car and making a mental list of all the things he's doing wrong lol

I recently saw a cleaning crew clean an office with microfiber towels and toss the ones used with Clorox, windex, soap, all in one bag to be washed. I cringed thinking of how mike suggests the separated laundry basket and wondered if they would get more life out of their towels that way.

Ive always watched tv shows that are focused around cars. Ever since i got into detailing the way i watched it has gotten worse and worse...

Last night for instance. I was watching some show on Velosity about Boyd Coddingtons shop (i forget the name something about hotrods lol) And this guy was talking about buffing the paint. The car he was buffing was what looked like the bucket for an old model T of some sort. The paint was black and he broke out this old rotory buffer that had a pad that was so dirty it was black when it was originally red. He put hardly any product on it and went to town on this car at high speed. I was like omg thats going to ruin the paint! Followed by compound he went straight to a glaze applied with PAPER TOWELS! Then get this they removed the glaze with, you guessed it, paper towels... Only when they removed it the SCRUBBED vigorously to remove it. I was like you gotta be kidding me! But here is the kicker... The guy who is probably appointed shop detailer (i assume this because he was the one explaining how to detail the car) got furious with what im assuming was an apprentice because he put the glaze on 5 min to early. I mean he was screaming at this poor kid. Saying "you dont know what you are doing! do you want to ruin this paint job! " I wanted to go to that shop and tell the shop detailer (who was the one yelling at the kid) the same exact thing.

There were so many things that were wrong with his detailing practices. Dirty pad, not enough product, PAPER TOWELS, glaze after compound, doing all this at highest speed on a rotory. I just couldnt believe it and the fact that he yelled at the kid calling him an idiot for putting glaze on "to soon" while he was doing worse then the kid made me change the channel.

My girlfriend was laying next to me in bed while we were watching it and shes like i dont see what the big deal is the paint looked good. I told her yeah because of the glaze they put on it filled all the scratches they put in it. Wait till the guy who is buying the car washes it. Its going to be holograms and scratch city all over that paint.

This morning while taking a shower, I noticed that I put three dots of body wash on my "loofa" and wondered what the rest of America does? Wastes product by swirling it all over the face of the pad, er, loofa

A while back I got tired of cleaning my sink and thought how can I repel all the stuff from building up so I can clean less? .. OPTICOAT!!

I would seriously do the toilet too.. but that's going too far

Oh yeah I am soooo going to clay and seal my glass show doors. I want the water to bounce off it!
