This 2005 Chevy Avalanche came in today for a full detail PLUS faded trim restoration!

Really faded, almost white!

This plastic trim can be VERY thirsty so tomorrow I expect to have to put on another coat of Ardex PTR. I will post pics of how everything looks after 12 hours and before another coat.

Why would you do a review on a non AG product?

Not a review, just a look at some horrible trim, and the process. But I have every product that the AG sells for black plastic trim and not one of them will restore faded black plastic trim worth a damn. I have THAT review completed, but they all sucked so I didn't post it.

You have to go next level, to professional, not enthusiast products.

The AG doesn't sell heat guns either, but I may do a review of using a heat gun on faded trim next.

Oh, and that Ardex PTR was given to me at the Mobile Tech Expo, sponsored by the AG, in Orlando in January.

Solution Finish? McKee's 37 Trim Restorer?

I have a Jeep Wrangler so I have bought every trim restorer that the AG sells. I did an 8 product review on my Jeep's trim. None of them looked good enough to speak of, si I didn't post it. Below are a sample of the products I used just after applying. Those were taken 8/13/17 (2 weeks ago). I will take pics of how they look tomorrow.

Did you try the Mothers Heavy Duty Trim Cleaner?

Ever use PTR in interior plastic?

It's Ardex you typically have to buy off the truck

Did you try a second coat of each or just one?

Solution Finish followed up with a trim coating would be the best fix for these types of jobs. I love trim restoration jobs :)

AG doesn't sell lipstick, but your welcome to do a review if you like.

I'd like to see how it would have held up to the 15+ inches of "torrential" rain we had in my area since Saturday if it was sitting outside. Now that would be a great test.

I put WETS on one side of my Rogue's trim a month or so ago and McKees' on the other side. McKee's lost the durability test big time to WETS.

McKee's is history and WETS is still hanging in strong. And it was out in this rain and summer weather.

Sorry, but I don't have the time or motivation to take pics of it. I had a pretty good idea when I applied them based on the viscosity of the two produtcs which one was going to come out ahead and I was right. McKee's is thinner and I used more product to cover the same amount of trim than the WETS, like twice as much.

Color me impresses. Well done/restored. I know those Ava's have a huge issue with tiger striping of the trim as well the UV fading. Nice!

I had a co worker ask me if I could take a look at and maybe, possibly polish his new beater... It's an old Toyota Previa and it's beat to hell. I tried to be nice about telling him it just wasn't going to happen. Lol. However I did try a test spot on the beastly oxidized plastic trim that surrounds the entire minivan.

You can see the tapeline down the middle. I tried Mckee's Coating Prep Polish with a terry applicator on the left. And Mothers Heavy Duty Trim Cleaner [by itself, nothing else applied afterwards] on the small area on on the right of the tapeline.

I did that a week ago and forgot about it until yesterday... Pretty remarkable. Based on how it's held up shows it truly cleans and restores, just like I knew it would... But it's still somewhat of a surprise considering how awful shape that plastic trim is in.

I had an 07 Avalanche and thought I was taking great care of it but all that same trim went light gray and tiger stripped like Sizzle said. Wish I had known about solution finish and WETS back then.
