On February 23rd, we lost our house to a fire. No one was injured thank God but our dog did perish in the fire. Along with all of our belongings, my entire detailing arsenal was also destroyed and I will now be starting to build it again from scratch. For about 15 years I've been detailing cars, not professionally but for friends and family. I go back to when Mike Phillips was with Meguiars. Anyway, I have to rebuild our home along with the garage so any advice on lighting, etc is always appreciated. It will be a few months until we're able to move back in ...in the meantime, I'll be doing some shopping. So if you think you're having a bad day, look at the picture I posted......thanks for reading this...looking forward to being part of the AutoGeek community.

Glad to hear no one was hurt though if your family is like mine, we wouldn't know what to do if one of our dogs didn't make it. Hopefully everything turns out for the best for you guys.

Thanks everyone...you're all correct, it's painful, a hassle, a heartache, and a big fat slap to the face to make you realize that just because life is cruising along just fine for years, one day, it can all change. I appreciate the kind words of support. Really I do.

Sorry for your loss God Bless and glad you and your family were not hurt

God bless , I'm sorry about your dog and your home, but thank heavens you and your family are ok, material things can be replaced, I am sorry about your dog tho that is very sad.

You'll be up in running in no time!

Exact cause has not been determined yet. It did start in the basement however, and it was electrical in nature.

If you need any junction boxes or "stuff that goes behind the wall" electrical wise let me know and i will be happy to send you stuff at no charge.

Maybe Autogeek will send you some odds and ends they have laying around to get you started back up.

I'd be happy to lose my house if it meant I could have my dog back. Condolences on your loss, and happy to hear you and the rest of your family is okay.

Sorry for your loss, especially a member of your family. In the meantime, can I help you with any maintenance items for your cars? I have some ONRWW, a MF mitt, and CarPro HydroFoam soap id be happy to send over.

That's EXACTLY what my wife said...after 15 years, it is like losing a child...and if you've never experienced that connection between a dog and yourself, you're missing out on one of life's greatest experiences...if the house burnt to the ground, my wife would have been FINE with that if we could have gotten Colby out...the silver lining is that he did not suffer one bit...he didn't have a burned hair on his body and if you saw my kitchen, which is where he was, you'd think it was a miracle...and in our minds, it was...thank you all for your most generous responses....my message is simple, appreciate what you have...and, check your homeowners insurance to make sure you have ample coverage...luckily we do, but I've heard horror stories about people that tried to save on their premiums only to have that backfire when they needed the coverage...fyi, it will cost more to rebuild my house than I could sell it for and if you looked at it from the outside, you'd never know it...it's crazy....so, check your policies....and thanks for listening :)
