Thinking about trading in the CR-Z for a Fiat 500 Abarth, thoughts?

Abarth is the tuning wing of Fiat cars, as well as Lancia back in the day. They take the 100 hp 1.4L and boost it up to 160 hp but it's actually more than that. My car is tuned and makes about 220 hp to the crank or about 195-200 whp.

That sounds like fun. Kind of like an Italian Mini Cooper! And 157 HP per liter of displacement! Damn! That is efficiency.
 
That's a good comparison but the Abarth would be more "in tune" with John Cooper Works for MINI.

I take you've never seen these where you live?

No, I have never seen one before. I live in Oregon and everyone here drives a Subaru or a jacked up diesel truck. (An exaggeration of course!) But yea, I have seen a few Fiat's (No Abarth's) around town but they aren't very popular out here. It rains, rains, rains all the time so people here feel "safe" in their assymetrical AWD Subaru's or their 4WD trucks.
 
I understand and it's why I have Blizzak WS80 winter tires to get me through those MONTHES.

On my daily driver I run cheap Mastercraft 440's year round! They do the job.
 
"Red and clean"....As in the look, 5 spokes are clean and the color...red, to tie into my cars theme! Now the color isn't spot on but close enough. I have some custom decals being made to go over the stock ones, it's a half yellow, half red with a black scorpion in the middle, keeping an oem look, of coarse🇮🇹

Btw I am doing a full correction on my buddy Hectours Mazda 3 and the "red and clean" theme continues, as in cleaning the K&N filter in my car so it's ready for the Dragon🏁

I tell people who ask about my ABARTH (aka THE BURBLE): Its not fast, its quick!

The experience is different than driving a higher HP car, you can have fun in traffic and at low speeds, its just enjoyable to drive. And the exhaust note!

Banz, your spot on about the perf of our cars and I'm sure red is faster for Italian cars like BRG makes British cars go faster🇮🇹

You need to try and come out to the Dragon next year! I've managed to get one Rosso Abarth (owned by Ted) to come out from Maryland, maybe your next?!

Thanks for the info, I've heard of it but never followed through going there. I think I need to take an extra day and do that route for sure!

How does it compare to the Dragon? How are roads, banked like the Dragon?

I've not rode the dragon so I can't do a direct comparison. Not all of the curves are banked, but some were. I remember several that were pretty flat and sharp with mountain to one side and drop off on the other. I'll be honest, I was nervous when I realized I could end up high siding a few hundred feet down. It also has switchbacks which can be fun and difficult at high speed. Not sure of the dragon, but 421 has a lot of elevation change. If I remember correctly, they're also several straighter sections to relax a little on.

If you time it right, they do open to all drag racing at the Bristol drag strip. You guys could ride twisties in the AM and drag against each other in the PM.

I do the Dragon at least once a year. Unfortunately the FIAT events are always near Deals Gap Rotary Ralleye (Spring) and the Fall event is on the weekend of my wifes Birthday. She does not enjoy the Dragon!
 
My buddy Hectour did the rotary rally this past spring in his 79' RX7 and we have a small group going on the 23rd of this month, can't wait! Been going since 2003 and haven't missed a year yet 👍
