I just received mine(haven't used it yet). I was messing with the speed dial and noticed that I don't have full range use of the speed dial. I turned it up to about 5 3/4 and the speed dial stops. In other words, I can get the number 6 to set in the middle of the rectangular box of the speed dial. This may not seem like a big deal to some, but it is to me. I didn't have this issue with my first G110v2, so I'm just wondering. Can you all check to see if you have the issue? Thanks.

Maybe the dial is not calibrated? Does it go below 1? I just checked mine and it's fine.

Mark, you ever see the movie Spinal Tap where the guy says his amp goes to 11 and not 10? Your question reminded me of that. I can't attach the YouTube clip for it from my phone, or else I'd have done that.

I can go move the dial slightly below 1, can you?

Never seen it.

No,,stops exactly on one. Your dial is slightly out of calibration. Should not be a problem. Now since it's a new unit the best thing to do is go as slow as possible and let it spin few minutes for brushes to seat properly. Be a lot less problems later. If brushes are not seated and worn it a bit when you go fast speed and apply pressure you might get some brush arc which is not desirable. Just my 2 cents worth.
what have you been using PC?

Very good info. That's how we used to break in motors when I raced RC cars. Too much arcing burns the comutator and decreases performance. Most brushed are just flat on the end and need to be broken in to the profile of the com.

These are the kind of annoyances I'm happy I don't see with my Flex. I like good quality Im the MAN

Sorry buddy!! I couldn't help myself.

Thanks, Mark.

This one is going back to Meguiar's for a replacement.:) I want one that's made correctly, right outta the box.

Good for you! I would probably live with it and always feel annoyed. LOL!

I'm going to start using the mf cutting pads with my 3401 very soon! Will be sure to let you know my experiences.

I for one would keep it. But that's me. Now it shows you Quality control issues with China made products. I just love my GV and in my opinion PC is second rate as far as performance goes. There are few things I would like to see changed, but that is a different issue.

The PCXP sucks donkey balls! I probably shouldn't have said that! I've used it a few times, and anything below speed 5 is worthless, IMO.

I'll let you in on a little trick, you make a sanding fixture that approximates the radius of the commutator, and you sand the end of the brush to approximately the commutator shape--makes break-in a lot faster then going from flat.

I could live with it too, but I refuse to if mine arrives like that. Scheduled for delivery on Monday.

PM sent Mark...with the info requested.

Yes I suppose that would work to speed things up for a tool. In the case of the RC motors we used to run them wide open in a solution of motor cleaner. Yes totally submerged in liqiud. Once the brushes were brokenn in the the motor was taken apart and the com was trued on a jewlers lathe and then balanced. Coms swell with speed when new and need to be recut. Sounds crazy but so is $100.00 bucks for 6 batteries in a matched pack! sorry for the hijack.

Mark, have you packed that machine up and sent it back yet? If not, just for giggles try pulling the rear housing off the machine to see if you can adjust the placement of the speed dial -- it might just be in there with a slight interference fit preventing it from going all the way to 6.

See Tuscarora Dave's cord replacement thread for pics of what I'm describing.

Well, I never used the pcxp but the results I've seen Tad achieve with it are among the VERY best I have seen anyone get with any machine.

I can't say I could do as good with the pc as I do with my flex but he can. He has a flex now too and said it is absolutely less vibration than the pcxp though.

I can say first hand the flex is 10x less vibration than the grioss...

Anyway, didn't mean to hijack just wanted to balance the thread with another perspective on the PC even though it's not my perspective! thanks buddy!! Im the MAN

Mark I used a machine at Sema that isn't available yet here since they are working on converting it too 110 Volt all I can say it works better then the Flex Da and the PCXP they combined both machine's together but it isn't force rotation .
