Ok everyone, take it easy on me. Tell me what you think:

Shiver's Optimum Shine

I am trying to keep it as true HTML as possible so that it is fast loading and pulls up on any device/machine.

The only thing I don't like is the "fading" of the background of the logo, but that is being changed.

Feed back please

It is clean and simple which is good. The headlight pics are too dark. Also the majority people don't spend alot of time reading stuff - so when then see the headlight restoration are they gonna assume that is all you do? I questioned it and looked further - some may not. I would have a before/after pics of a detailed car and the headlights second. The headlights need to be lightened so it is more clear. I would also zoom in more on them. Do people know what a 1,2,3 step correction is? I doubt it. I would say swirl and scratch removal or whatever and give an estimate. Show a picture of a dark colored door with one half corrected and the other perfect. Then you can explain to them at the estimate it is gonna take 2 steps which equals 15hours but you can get at least 90% removed. The click here for monthly specials gets lost. I would move to the bottom of page or top. Make it easy to read.

May be less writing on main page. Get your points across. Owner Operated, high quality, whatever. Then you can expand later.

The most important thing is to do your meta information correctly. Google meta tags. If you do it to googles specs you will get web traffic. Or get a program to assist you. Like Go Daddy's "Search Engine Visibility." It really has helped get my website to NUMBER 1 on google for FREE.

Just my two cents... do what you want.

I don't have time to look through every single page right now. But, it looks to be an ok site. Obviously a lack of photos.

I don't so much care for the sideways "click here for monthly specials" banner on the right hand side of the homepage. I had to tilt my head to read it, ha. Even the car is sideways. I would construct that banner so everything is straight...words, and the car.

There's also a LOT of blue/green in the site. Have you thought of maybe changing the background color, and maybe some of the tab boxes?

I feel like your logo gets lost in the choice of template colors. You want your logo to pop out, not blend in. Maybe try a shade of grey for the background?

Thanks for the comments guys.

As far as the Headlight Restoration seeming like the main service. I put that on the front, as that is the service I am trying to promote the most. The easiest money, and then I can talk about other services at that time to the customer.

And yeah, the specials banner was just a quick thing. I am trying to get on the Autogeek/Autopia Car Care Affiliate program if it is still available, and post up their ads.

And maybe I am color blind, but there are no greens on the web site?

The pictures are of my grandmother's old car, and of course the sun didn't shine at all that day.

I am going to be running a special soon to get some more pictures.

And the meta search tags are def something I am going to look into.

Thanks again!

I think what he meant wasn't blue and green, but a blue-green (teal) color. I think you need more pictures, and especially larger and clearer headlight shots if that is your focus.

Another hand that has done their research. Keep on striving NoleFan.

Experience and guidance for free.

Right, I meant the combination of blue and green creating lots of teals, and aqua type colors.

I like the fact you education them on some of the proper detailing terms. Educated customer is more likely to pay you what you are worth once they understand what you are doing. Most people think a $25 car wash and wax is getting the full treatment for their car!

:xyxthumbs:

Ah, the web as I remember it! The whole site loads incredibly fast on my iPad. I think the layout is fine. More pictures on the pages that are supposed to have pictures, don't want to leave "Coming Soon!" on there for too long.:xyxthumbs:

Thanks for the comments everyone!

let`s see...
- the menu needs work ( the options are not lock in )
- u use too many fronts style , stay in 1-2 , max 3
- that`s a sad blue :)) , give some life to it
- contact us page is what the site should be as size, all other pages i see them small ( it may be my comp.)
- on home page i will put the detailing first and after that headlight as title
that will be a few to keep you busy ;)

[I knew somebody had to do it!] J/K

Looks good.
Maybe a couple of tweaks here and there...Some have already been suggested.

Continued success!

:)

Why are you using "us" in your "about us" page? Us would show that you have an employee or are working with someone. I would change it to "About Me." Regardless, I changed around that page for you. Business is about being straight to the point. I feel what I rewrote is more professional sounding. Let me know what you think, I don't care if you copy and paste my "re-do" on your website. Good luck with your business.

S.O.S is owned and operated by Taylor Shiver, a native born and current Thomasville resident. My full time job is at a boiler manufacturer in Thomasville. My passion is making cars "shine" in my off time. I offer a mobile service however they are strictly limited to afternoons and weekends due to my full time job.
Detailing started off as an enjoyable weekend hobby but has swiftly turned into a true love. I have been playing around with different car care products for several years on my own vehicles in order to determine the quality of these products. This has provided me with vast amounts of knowledge and the know-how to the products that I will be using on your vehicle. I guarantee that you will be happy with my work performance after you have given me the time to make your vehicle shine.
I look forward to gaining your business and hope to continue doing business with you in the future.

For you FAQ. I would provide a picture of what a machine/touch less car wash does to a paint so people can see the difference of what you do compared to a touch less wash. Also, I would go to the next line and do an indent for your answers. As follows:

Is your window cleaner safe on my aftermarket tint? (leave this bold and make it a slightly bigger font)
Yes, we only use ammonia free glass cleaner. This makes it safe for all glass surfaces. (unbold your answers)

--the contrast will catch the customers eye and be able to quickly skim over your page. No one wants to read paragraphs.

The first thing I noticed was "Headlight Restoration" and then I looked at the headlights. They didn't "pop" to me. I'm sure you did a good job on them, but in a better light they would look better. I would chose a better picture that displayed the awesome work you do.

I gotta agree with most of what everyone said in this thread. The quick tips is really cool. It's noticeable and gives the reader useful information that implies you know what your'e talking about.

Also, the about us section and the home section have the same tip.

Great job! I know some HTML/CSS and I recently made a website for my side detailing but to be honest I hate the way it looks. I'm a CIT major specializing in Security, Networking and System Administration. My hat's off to anyone who can write HTML/CSS, Javascript etc. lol

Thanks for the kind words! HTML is pretty much all that I know. I know nothing else

As far as about us, if anyone asks, my Golden Retriever also works for the company :D In all seriousness, I just didn't like how the I and Me sounded, but I will take another look at it, and address that again.

And as for the pictures, I know, the lighting stinks. Everytime I do headlights, it seems to be either foggy or REALLY overcast. Is there anything I can do to help this? Maybe bring my shop light to shine on them when taking pictures to make up for the poor lighting?

I appreciate everyone's feedback. Although I can't and won't make every change everyone suggests, but I do take all of it seriously and into consideration. The site will never make everyone happy.

Thanks again guys and gals!

Nice simple website. I like it a lot.

Especially like the Quick Tips. You have very good competitive prices as well.

It is a great start. I would suggest changing the font from the serif type to something more modern.

I like the FAQ but maybe you should have a special call out box on your front page on why people need a professional detailer to take care of their vehicle and possible point to the FAQ as well.

If you are not good at photography (camera, composition, exposure) find a friend who is and can help take better pictures.
