"Tis the season" ... to Respect Each Other

Did I miss something in the Forum Rules? Where does it say you have to agree with everything the Autogeek staff says?

It doesn't.... but considering that this forum is wholly owned and operated by Autogeek.net, a corporate organization, even if they did have a rule like that they're well within their rights to do so.

If anything, all of us should be grateful to Max and Autogeek for providing this venue for customers and fans to seek support, learn, and share in this hobby/industry in the type of environment they've created. Arguing constantly and acting unprofessionally is really rather disrespectful to the folks who work hard to do everything AG does for us. Autogeek doesn't HAVE to spend the money (and take my word for it, the hosting resources alone for this forum are NOT CHEAP! I used to work for the hosting company AG uses and I know roughly what they're paying monthly) or put the hours in keeping this place afloat, but they do.

I know there are folks who don't care for some of the people on the Autogeek staff, or may not like every decision the company makes (myself included at times, though I realize no one can please everyone all of the time), but that's no excuse for acting childishly on the forum.

Like you said, Shane, it's all about not acting like a jerk when disagreeing with others.

These quotes are more or less attributed to speaking, but I think they apply to the written word as well:

"Foolishness always results when the tongue outraces the brain." ~Author Unknown

"It is better to keep one's mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt." ~Abraham Lincoln

Well put...and as a reletively new member..I must say I enjoy the different points of view and tips/pros/cons because I read it as constructive critisism in a good way. There are many ways to get from point A to B...I truly am thankfull for all the members input as I have learned quite alot from other members tips/tricks and they kept me from making the same mistakes in the process. Keep doing what you do Autogeek..as there are alot of us who look forward to the next day's post.

I came from one of the other forums and feel like I have found a place to call home here at AGO. I really appreciate having this place to post to, learn from and give a helping hand from time to time.

A man that I look up to once told me that before he speaks he considers 3 things, "is it kind, is it true and does it really need to be said" and if it doesn't meet those 3 things he keeps quiet.

I try my hardest to adhere to that principle and while sometimes I fall short of my goals, most of the time it's pretty easy and I can get along with most anyone.

Happy Holidays to all, TD

First i want to wish everyone a safe and Happy Holiday.
As far as the forum goes it's all about mutual respect and being able to agree to disagree,i enjoy this forum for the knowledge i get from all of you as i only do my own vehicles for fun and not for profit.I think those that have an ego and believe they know more than others should humble themselves and appreciate the fact that they are helping us less knowledgeable members.

Aloha and Safe travels
Ken

I hope everyone has a great holiday season this year!! I know we in New Zealand will be having the hottest (apparently) Summer on record for us yet, so a lot of cruising to be done I think ;)

WOW! now that's true wisdom. I'll think of the "three things" as "three rules".
Thanks Dave!

Shane I love those and I think I will be using them for myself! I know we all let our tongue make a move before our brain on occasion. But what makes a difference is when you do that and rightfully note it! Here's to slowing down the mouth and engaging brain first!!:props:

Dave I love it!! Those are WONDERFUL words to live by and I think some great ones for the forum!

I think we all need to remember why we are here, we are here to help others, so lets all just remember that and enjoy this holiday season.

Now I have been out of town for a few days, just got back...spent sometime for the holidays with my family in Chicago, got to play in the snow for first time in about 20 years.
My sister had a Christmas in Paradise party, so we were to dress tropical... was a little hard in the snow! But I will share my outfit with you... I had on a hula skirt but I was freezing so I had to change into some jeans!

Happy Holidays everyone! Would like to thank everyone that has helped me and that is many, thank you!

BARKEEP!

A round of of Nog for my friends:cheers:

Bill

Also, make sure that this time of year you get plenty of cookies, cakes, fudge, parties, adult beverages (if you are old enough and not driving of course), take advantage of all the sales, sing Christmas carols, watch that movie where the kid almost shoots his eye out, re-gift fruit cake, spend lots of time with family and friends and write your letter to Santa Claus.

I will make sure NOT to eat the Fruit Cake from you this year!

Merry Christmas to Everyone! :wave::righton::birthday::cheers::awesome::pc7424::postpics::haha::bash::cruisin::props:

Did I miss something in the Forum Rules? Where does it say you have to agree with everything the Autogeek staff says? I disagreed with Matt on a topic once, but respectfully gave my thoughts and opinions on the matter. We could both be cool with that, but that was because I wasn't a jerk about it. You don't always have to agree with others, but you can respectfully agree to disagree. This is a discussion forum after all, therefore, friendly discussion is permitted and even encouraged (who knew?); I don't think anybody is advocating an "argument forum" or an "I'm so gullible I believe anything I'm told without questioning whether or not it's true forum". Politicians argue, civilized human beings discuss. BTW, here is the thread I referenced:

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...ic-vs-meguiar-s-ultimate-wipe-comparison.html

Looking from an outsiders point of view w/o all the info I don't think he is talking about disagreeing with product choices. Just my interpretation...but who knows...
