TLC Auto Detail:Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant vs. Ultima Tire and Trim Guard

Re: TLC Auto Detail:Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant vs. Ultima Tire and Trim Gaurd

Great work..as you said they are both quality products..you cant go wrong with either. The Wolfgang products are well researched and developed..other than the price of the UTTG that to me is the only difference. That being said..I paid the extra cost because the results and durability merit it.

Dave,

Thanks for taking the time to put this all together! :props:

It's great to see so may members here dedicate both time and effort to put a test plan together and follow it through.

Both the Wolfgang and Ultima product appear to be close in most respects but not the question is how durable are they over time. Both products are high quality and perform spectacularly. I'm always amazed at how they can take something so faded and dead looking and bring it back to life.

Thanks again Dave.....:xyxthumbs:

Thank you! I figured it would help since i'm always going back and looking to see what product is on what side when I see other 50/50 pics.

Thank you for the kind words Bobby!

When can we expect to see durability updates?

Ok, so here is a quick update. Nothing too crazy, but I did notice a change. This just shows that these aren't trim restorers. I'm by no means saying they didn't improve the look, or they aren't working, but you can tell that even the dressed part of the trim has some facing to it. I don't expect the fading to get any worse until the dressings start to fail. just felt an update was in order.

On a side note the tires and cowl still look like it was just applied.

Thanks for the update Davey!!!
:props: No problem, I can't wait to do a full update this weekend. Put quite a few miles on both vehicles already, and have gone through 2 rain storms, should be some good updates!

Thanks for the update buddy!!! I still see something very wrong in that first picture ;)

So it has been a little over a month since I started my ETS vs. UTTG test/review. I figured this was a good time to make an update.

First up the cared for/new trim. The UTTG is on the left, and the ETS is on the right. Honestly it's hard to tell which one is doing better at this point. they are both still going very strong, and look almost as good as the day they were applied.

I want to note one thing. Both of these product hold dust/pollen like I've never seen before! It wipes right off, but as you will see in the first to pics, the protected sections had move dust/pollen on them than the undressed stripe in the middle. This really surprised me!!

Again I don't think it's a huge deal since it wipes right off, but it is worth noting. here is another picture after the trim was wiped down with just distilled water.

And here is a closer view of them. Both still look AWESOME IMO. From these pictures there is no real way to pick one over the other.

Now we move on to the faded/abused trim. Again in the first picture you will notice how much dirtier the dressed parts are than the undressed part. As with the cared for trim, it does wipe right off.

And here they are after being wiped down with water. In this case, I think you can see a distinction between the two products. Both are still there, but I feel that the ETS looks a little darker than the UTTG at this point. So I would venture to say that, at least on faded trim, the ETS is staying dark longer. I would assume that this means the ETS will last longer, but only time will tell. Sorry the flash threw off the colors in the first picture a little bit.

Here is a quick picture showing both products are still beading strong.

And one final picture of both products all clean.

Hope you all enjoyed this little update! I will make another one in a few weeks, or if I notice one product failing. Thanks for looking!!!

thanks for the update, they both look like they are holding up well.

Waits to hear all the UTTG fanboys replies.

Wait, I'm an OPC fanboy! hahahaha :p

Wow Davey, sorry I missed this buddy. Absolutely outstanding review. If I didn't know better I'd say you're bucking for a position at skycarcare.com.:D I haven't used the Wolfgang product yet (I'm sure it's great though). I have a considerable amount of UTTG (as we all know a great product) to use up. However, I have been using C4 on details where the client is willing to pay for it. All I can say is it's a whole other level of WOW! Any way great review my friend and thanks for taking the time to do it.:props:
