Too many hours on a Kia Sportage.....yes a Kia

Probably the first and only Kia Sportage to "grace" (thats being VERY generous) the forums lol. I've known the owner for years and he's brought me a ton of cars, on top of that I owed him a pretty big favor. This is what he chose to use it on. I think some of the appeal of doing this was it was a challenge. As you will see it was in a very poor state. Also smoked badly and had a very bad oil leak every time it was started. I think he got this car for practically nothing and was going to fix it up to flip it. I do like challenges, but I think I reached my limit with this one, and never want to see another car like this again lol. But I knew it would make for a good transformation.

I'm going to apologize now for what you're about to view. Its ok to leave now, before you're scarred from looking... lol



After cleaning the wheels I started taking pics..

Dull, lifeless, and swirled/scratched paint

Things got even worse on the inside...pretty disgusting. Also quickly found a nasty leak on the drivers door...water got everywhere. Mmmm thats some Kia quality right there... :banghead:

Yeah...pretty bad. Seats required removal to get to everything.

After a few hours of vacuuming, scrubbing, and extracting several times, it was looking much nicer.

some trim pieces were also removed to get the carpets thoroughly cleaned

Some 50/50 shots while finding the right combo for the paint...

After M105 on PCXP to remove heavier defects. Marring cleaned up later.

Finished pics, and glad to be done with this....thing.

Glass was cleaned and black trim was dressed after pics since the sun was setting.

Would you be horrified to find out that the difference in resale between before and after is only $39.95 Even flawless bacon is only going to be worth so much a pound.

But I know how you feel. I just did an old Ford Fiesta for a friend. And he was giving it to charity.

Nothing for YOU to apologize for (unless that's your cookie on the rug). That is a nice example of what can be done by someone who knows what they are doing. If you start with a Maybach, you get a detailed uber car worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. A whole lot easier to look good when you start with a diamond instead of a stone.

You started with nothing and made it look pretty darn good and I think thats harder to do (but less expensive if you screw it up). Thanks for sharing this work!:dblthumb2:
