Topping Meguiar's D301?

how about using Colonite 845 Insulator wax instead of D301

for you guys that use 205 after 300, do you use 205 on the finishing pads or do you use foam pads?

anyone try 151 on a finishing pad instead of 301?

I used the MF finishing pad. I suppose a LC white/green/gray or HT tangerine/crimson pad would certainly be an interesting alternative. Least aggressive pad that eliminates any haze from 300

I use D300/mf cutting or M105/mf cutting, then M205/tangerine hydro-tech pad. I have only used D301/mf finishing pad once on mirrors. Using D151 on both pads sounds interesting, so I may have to acquire some more :).

so you liked using 205 on a finishing mf pad? did you clean on the fly w/ air compressor after every section pass? just curious to your procedure

i just got one in the mail today:) ill also try using my air compressor. thanks!

I use Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax after the D301, it darkens the black paint up and makes it look super deep and wet.

any problems with ULW streaking? heard a lot of those issues over at MOL

I think he's saying he'll use 301, then do an IPA wipedown after to remove it's protection properties and leave bare paint for another sealant.

You read my mind.........................or my post ;) That's exactley what I meant!

I'm actually glad you brought it up, because ULW definitely takes more effort to remove than most other liquid waxes. You're correct about the streaking. When you go to wipe off the ULW, you'll see a day and night difference, but it will have some streaking.

I usually take the microfiber cloth and just apply heavier pressure to the streaked area, which should be fine anyways since there's a fresh coat of D301 underneath it. The streaking can be annoying not only because it's difficult to remove, but also because it's hard to see if not under direct sunlight.

With that said, I will still continue to use ULW after D301, there is simply not another wax that can produce the same results in such little time.

i will be doing a test to compare ulw and bfwd after 301 on my hood. i will do this soon( suppose to do it this weekend but stupid rain)

i want to see what looks better and lasts longer.

Maybe try spritzing with distilled water to remove the streaks? When you apply heavy pressure to remove streaks are you removing wax with it?

I put BFWD on top of D301 and then topped it all with Pinnacle Signature Series II...Came out awesome IMHO
