What is everyones thoughts on Tornador Vs Steam Cleaner?

Which is better for interiors or do both play a part?

Honestly, they are both important, at least to me. It also depends on the specific job, and no two jobs are exactly the same. I find myself using both on interiors and engine bays. On engine bays, I use the steam to break down super heavy grime deposits, and I use the Tornador with apc/dressing mix to quickly remove the remaining dust and grime.

Same basic method for the interior. Steam gets up gunk and nasty stuff out of cup holders, and Tornador can quickly distribute apc/dressing in a more uniform distribution across plastic surfaces like consoles, door panels, etc.

Neither one is "better" or "more important" than the other, they are different tools for different jobs. My van has a steamer, Tornador, DA brushes and hot water extractor to cover it all.

^Totally agree.

I use both tools for all of my interior details. I let my steamer heat up while I'm blasting away with my tornador. Prior to the Tornador/Steamer I make sure to vacuum the areas thoroughly. All interiors come out looking much better than they did before, almost new.

What size compressor are you using from your van to power the tornador?

I've never had a need for a tornador really but I know a lot of people like them. You need a good compressor to use it. I love my steamer and couldn't be with out it. If you could only get one I would get a steamer for sure.

Both have there strong points, but once you learn all the tricks with a steam cleaner there hard to beat. Mastering one or the other will also make your process faster.

In what scenario would the tornador be better than a steamer for interiors?

And what about steamer vs extractor. I have tornador and for me I think I could not start an interior detail without one but I do without steamer and extractor, only if the car is very dirty then I realize that I need extractor or steamer. I don't like extractor very much because moisture in the interiors but I realize that is needed for dirty jobs. What I may miss with tornador and steamer agains extractor.

I use both in the shop. The tornado really helps speed up the process on interiors. But it also mist all over the interior and can be a bit too much at times. I wear a mask but sometimes still have to walk away and let the mist settle. Steamer is great for all types of jobs. Just get both :props:

Seems like a tornador, extractor and steamer are all needed for a full arsenal.

I am thinking of getting a Dupray Tosca and Tornador first in that case and extractor at a later date.

Does that sound like a good idea or a extractor first?

A big stand up portable 26 gallon Husky belt driven job. It can rock the Tornador or pretty much anything I need it for. I have a 2010 Chevrolet 1500 Express, and it fits just perfectly inside with only a an inch or so to spare above it.

As said before, they are all "important", but if I had to rank them in level of importance:

1) Steamer- it comes out nearly every job. If I didn't have a steamer, I'd not work that day.

2)Extractor- this is a tough one.. because it is a "necessity", yet I avoid using it at all cost. The steamer will knock out 80% of what the extractor can do, plus more, without getting the carpet as wet. However, when I need it, I NEED it. A must have either way.

3) Tornador. It's a HUGE time saver and very versatile, but think of it as a "support" tool for everything else. With it I can quickly clean and dress lightly soiled and tough to reach areas and blow out crevices all at the same time. I can then load it with apc/dressing or degreaser/dressing mix and use it combined with steam to clean up an engine bay. Some people use it for cleaning carpets and mats, and while I've used it for that and it's saved a lot of time, it's yielded very mixed results, so for carpets, if the soil is much "deeper" and steam won't do the job, I skip the Tornador and go straight to the extractor.

Personally I use the Mytee HP60.

Truth.

I use my steamer and Tornador Black on all interior jobs. These tools have simultaneously enabled me to cut time and produce better results.

If using a steamer do you just use the tornador for dressings?

Steam removes stains in seats and carpet, cleans melted gummy bears and chewing gum out of cupholders and consoles... it breaks down really heavy stuff. But dust, light surface grime, etc are good for the Tornador. It just displaces tons of air, so you can switch the valve off to blow only air, blow stuff off of the dash and other areas, and then switch on and clean with APC, distribute dressing on plastic surfaces, or both. The Tornnador distributes liquids so much more evenly and quickly than just spraying it out of a bottle and wiping. The only disadvantage is it gets on glass and other stuff, which is why I do glass last in the interior.

What are all the tricks with a steam cleaner? Just curious if there is a link to all the things it can do detail related and how to use it?
