i have a few sealants like powerlock and m21. i only use sealants going into the winter months. what would be the most durable sealant? i know everyone has different preferences so that is understandable. thinking of trying out the rejex ag is offering?

Rejex...powerlock...Collonite 845..DP Poli Coat..all are great. Mix it with the Duragloss bonding agent and you will get more out of any sealant.

Collonite is a wax and those others are not that long lasting. If you want a long lasting sealant you are going to have to go with Zaino. I am not a fan but it will outlast pretty much anything.

i never thought to do that. nice tip. thanks

What do you consider long lasting Dana?
Maybe as an OTC convert, 4-6 months is a very long time for me...maybe not for someone such as yourself??

I use UPGP and now Aquartz, which I am hoping AG will carry.

I really reallly want AG to carry Aquartz, they have some fantastic products.

Honestly nothing really last that long on its own, the only thing I have seen last that long if not longer was Zaino. That stuff is so strong I had to use solvent a couple times on paint to remove it before starting to polish.

DP Poli Coat has lasted 5 months on my Black '07 cobalt. Not garaged. I do apply spray wax about once a month though so there's no telling which wax is beading...I've never used Zaino's products, but have heard good things.

See, that is what I mean, so it really hasn't lasted 5 months. The only sealant I have seen stand alone the longest is Zaino, it is very tuff stuff.

Collonite is a wax
I called collonite directly a while back and they told me that some of their "waxes" contain more carnauba than others, but none of them are 100% carnauba. So could you consider collonite waxes a "hybrid" sealant/wax product? Have you ever used FK1000P, Dana?

DP Poli Coat has done really well on my wifes car. I put it on her car when it first came out, the car is garaged at night but 5+ days a week and it sits in an open parking lot under full sky. Its still holding up like the day I applied it. I have also never applied any QD or spray wax since applying the DP. All it gets is a weekly or bi-weekly wash with DP Auto Bath Shampoo.

I'm guessing you have never tried it or never let it alone long enough to really test the durability of it.

I have a bottle and it is on one of my customer's cars, it is been on there for a couple months and fading. I am willing to bet that it is not holding up like the day you put it on, totally impossible. Everything deteorates from day one just at different rates.

I agree, i'm sure everyone else agrees as well that every wax or even sealant fades and deteriorates. But it could still be very well holding up, that would be product dependent...the rate it deteriorates as you've said. :)

May not be the same as the day it went on but its pretty dang close. I also have it on a customers pick up that sits outside 24/7 and its holding up just as well on that. I applied it on several cars but those are the 2 I keep track of the most.

Could be that it didn't bond very well on your customers car.

No bonding issues, I do an IPA wipedown so the paint is clean of any oils and one with a paint cleaner after my IPA wipe down. I have not seen any product go much more than a 2-3 months. To me people are buying into what they are being told or what people are saying on the forums. Normal washing and sitting outside you are not going to see much more than 2-3 months.

Here is an exmaple but it is a wax. I have used Souveran on my vette which sits in a dark garage and after a few weeks I go to wash the dust and the beads are very weak.

The only stuff that I have seen actually last as claimed has been Zaino and I am far from someone that likes Zaino.

I will add that the Optimum coating is holding up to its claim on a test I am following but other than that nothing last that long.
